My wife and I visited Chichen Itza with Viator/Amigo Tours on Tuesday, 5/26/15, on their exclusive Early Access to the site. They provided hotel pick-up and drop-off, which was a selling point for me, even though it involved getting up earlier than Im used to. We were the first tour bus to arrive, giving us full access to the site for quite a long time before any other tour groups arrived, which makes it much easier to take unobstructed pictures of the structures, and to be able to move about freely and to hear our tour guides without competition from other groups. Another plus of being allowed early access is that we were in and out before the weather got oppressively hot. Our guides, Freddy and Frank, were very knowledgeable in their presentations of Chichen Itza, and asked repeatedly for questions from the group. The bus driver, Oscar, was excellent, and handled the large bus with great ease and skill. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour company, and especially these three individuals, for anyone considering this trip.
Pickup for the tour was at 5am (!!) but it was worth it. We got there before the long lines and crowds and we were able to do the tour before the heat became unbearable. Our tour guide, Freddie, was great. Definitely pack snacks because there's a long time between 5 am and lunch at noon.
Awesome! Freddy, the tour guide, was fantastic. The 5:45 a.m. pickup time from the hotel was painful but it was well worth it to arrive at the gates of Chichen Itza even before they were open, to get pictures of the ruins with no other people in the them and then to leave -- all before the masses of people had overtaken the park. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone!
Brilliant tour led by Freddie, Oscar and Francesco. Definitely recommend the early start to beat the crowds but more importantly the heat. Everything worked really well from booking to going on the trip. 100% recommended. Thanks boys!
Everything from start to finish was very well organized. Freddie, the guide , was informative and funny! It was worth it. To add just one more hour would be great as we felt we really rushed and didn't have much time at the end for just walking around and enjoying the place.
Definitely worth getting up early to avoid the crowds and the hottest part of the day!
Freddie and crew were great. Wife and I really enjoyed our day at Chichen Itza. Highly recommend the early tour to escape the crowds and heat.
This tour was amazing. Our tour guide Frank was very knowledgable and highly entertaining. We had plenty of time at the site to explor. The early access is well worth waking up earlier for, it allowed us to beat the large crowds, avoid the extreme heat in the middle of the day and back at hotel by 3
Outstanding tour. Early morning a must. Frank was so informative and Oscar was a great driver.
Definitely worth the early rise - felt sorry for the groups arriving as we were leaving, as the heat was getting unbearable by that time and there is very little shade. Freddy and Frank were both excellent guides.
Our tour was great, we avoided the masses of people, got great photos and our tour guide Freddy was fun and informative.
I would highly recommend this tour. The Early Access option will have you arriving at Chichen Itza just as it opens, thus avoiding crowds and intense sun. Amigo Tours was very helpful and efficient, and our guides and bus driver Frank, Freddy and Oscar, were very accomodating and informative. We were picked up at our Cancun hotel at 5:45 AM at the exact time we were informed, and returned at 2:30. The bus ride is long 2 hours each way, and Amigo provides a ham sandwich lunch and water on the return trip. Frank gave us a nice introduction to the site during the bus ride, and then accompanied us for a one and half hour tour of the site. This was a very pleasant and informative trip. You might consider bringing an umbrella to provide some shade. Even in the morning, the sun it pretty intense.
This tour is a wonderful way to see historic Chichen Itza at it's best. The early pick up at our hotel was on time and the van ride was very comfortable. The two hour drive went by very fast our drive Louis was great as Frank our wonderful guide used that time to teach us many facts about the Mayan culture and the Yucatan area. The early entry is THE way to go. You get to see the sights before all your photos are full of other people, it gets HOT fast, and by the time you leave- you'll be thankful when you see the massive amount of people waiting to get in 8:00 am entrance walk right in!. The lunch is very basic and not much but highly recommend this tour overall.
Amazing tour! I can not recommend this enough to other travellers. Yes it was a really early start, but the transport was very comfortable and we were one of the first groups to get in. It meant no crowds, great pics and we left before the worst heat of the day. Our guide was very informative and used the first part of the trip to explain the history and culture so the drive went quickly. For families this was ideal even with the early start time. A must do for any visit to Mexico
Your was amazing! Rex early arrival for best pics! Franky's English was great! Very knowedgleable and enthusiastic! Great historical background info provided! Def made tour fun and educational. He answered questions. The driver (Oscar ?) was courteous and felt very safe with his driving.
What a great tour!
As promised we got to Chichen Itza as soon as it open so we were among the first to get in, and got great pictures with no one around. Not only did we avoid the crowd but also the heat, when it hit hard we were about to leave. A word of appreciation to the whole team, Freddy the perfect tour guide, sharing great knowledge with a friendly and entertaining speach, Arturo the friendly spanish guide, and our very helpfull driver Oscar.
With this tour you not only get there at the best time but you also have Freddy giving you the intro to the tour still on the bus, giving you all the historical knowledge you need to know before you get there, and then completing it on site.
I definitely recommend this tour!
They did a great job of explaining about the Mayan culture on the bus ride over. The break in the middle of the ride was a good idea. Getting there early was optimal. We could have spent a little more time exploring the ruins before having to get back on the bus. Overall it was excellent.
Freddy and Frank are the best. I learned a lot about Maya from them. Highly recommended!
This was such a great experience for my husband and I. The whole idea of being able to get to this location early - before the crowds, before the intense heat - was just awesome. But what made this trip truly amazing were the archaeologist, Freddy, and our tour driver, Oscar. Both were so warm and receptive to the group, and Freddy's knowledge of Chichen Itza was above par. We were able to ask him as many questions as we could think of - and my husband usually does his homework prior to these things so he definitely had questions - and he was just so enthusiastic about sharing his insight and knowledge of the place. We would not only do a similar tour like this one, but we would absolutely book again with Amigo Tours which is where Freddy and Oscar are a part of as well as through Viator if we were guaranteed another fabulous experience! Thanks so much!!
My husband and I took the early morning tour, and it was a great choice! We beat the crowds and the heat, and got great pictures without anyone else around. Frank was our tour guide, and he was the best! We couldn't have asked for better information about the Mayan culture, and he just went the extra mile to make the trip enjoyable. Thank you, Frank!
This is totally worth it! Freddie, our tour guide was phenomenal! He was so knowledgeable and funny! He got us in to the park before it was open so our pictures are of the ruins and no strange people in them! Completely pleased with this tour and would highly recommend it!
Excellent tour... getting up early was really worth it and due to our jetlag actually not that difficult.
Freddy was great and explained a lot during the trip to Chichen Itza, which helped understand the culture and sights much better. Thanks for this amazing experience!
