Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Cage Diving with Great White Sharks from Cape Town. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
Viator is a facilitator website - the actual shark adventure was through a local operator. But it was really well organized, great communication between the two companies so Marine Dynamics had us squared away! Fun trip! Sharks are magnificent - and better than on whats presented on TV. Great equipment, marine biologist on board was a great asset, very professional staff. Everyone stayed in the water with the sharks far longer than I expected, AND WE SAW A TONE OF HUGE SHARKS.
The trip was well organized and the Team does really their job, they do what they promise; nobody can walk away without seeing any shark. They are also prepared for situations; like if you are hungry, they have refreshments for you (eg. hot chock, sandwiches, chips and soft drinks), they treat you if you have sea-sick, etc. Full attention. The cruise to the deepwater (next to Dyer Island) is also scenic and if you like speed and adventure, sit into the front of the boat. Waiting for the different shark species in the Ocean is also a worthwhile and as a lot of the reviewers told; a lifetime experience.
The soup was also more than all right at the end in Great White House.
Great trip it was both Educational and Exciting, I have a new and positive regard of the Great White Shark .
Fantastic trip, very helpful, a bit nervous of boats, all was well,,,from the people who oicked me up and dropped me back, a special thanks, it was a long way,so b warned! ( from Cape Town)!id advise u stay nearer, I'd somewhere like hermanusif u can. Otherwise it's a 2 hr drive from Cape Town, there and back! But enjoy, the shark sighting was mega amazing, if your going cage diving, take a underwater camara housing, they provide wetsuits, you get20 mins inside the cage! I had lunch as well! So yes I'd recommend it, and I eas1 on my own, so relax, take lots of photos, and enjoy!
Had an incredible experience, would recommend this tour to anyone. The crew aboard the ship, as well as the staff at the lodge, drivers everyone was friendly and provided excellent service. Not to mention getting up close and personal with numerous great whites was something that can't really be put into words.
The pickup, the journey and the experience were perfect. The organisation was perfect. Only we were unlucky that the ocean wasn't so nice to us and we got a little seasick. Other than that I would rate everything 10 out of 10.
Absolutely the best experience ever. I would recommend it very highly. The professional crew, first rate boat, and great equipment made is a safe, fun, and memorable experience. I would only recommend Marine Dynamics. We had others in our group go with another company and they were very disappointed. My wife though I was crazy at first and when she read the reviews and met the crew she did the dive too. You have to experience it. The crew was so helpful, made it easy and great fun. We saw the whales and the seals in addition to 4 or 5 great white sharks. Do not miss it with Marine Dynamics 5 plus stars!!!
We booked through Viator as we had a good experience on another holiday. Booking was easy and the price was very reasonable. The diving was facilitated by a company called Marine Dynamics. The trip was well organised and we felt very safe throughout. The boat was purpose built, the cage was good, the equipment (wet suits etc) was in great condition and we seen plenty of sharks. My wife and I were a bit sick out on the boat but the staff were very helpful. Once in a lifetime experience.
Our "boys" (age 26 and 22) went on this tour. They had a great time. This was a wonderful life experience. They saw many sharks up close and personal.
Was an unforgetable experience! With a few minors organisation adjustments of diving suit dressing bfore the boat trip and less time in the cage for each group with the options of going in a 2nd time in revolment ...wouldn´t change a thing...except my digital camera! Thank goodness they offer their own video version for us which I am waiting to recieve per e-mail soon....
We had a great time! I at first was afraid that the large boat and 24 or so people would ruin the trip and give us little access in the water. We all got a lot of time in the cage and saw 10 sharks. The food is really boring at best, but who is going on this to eat.
I accepted to go on this tour for my husband but I was super scared. Once we were there, I realized this is probably the best company to go with. They have the best boat, VERY professional and friendly staff, they take care of you at all times, help you with everything you need. They picked us up in our hotel in cape town, drove for about 1 hour and a half and got breakfast. They give you clean wetsuits. Snacks and drinks are for free on the boat. I got in the cage, I don't know how to dive, but there is no need, you are always at surface level. Sharks came around us, very close but everything is fine, no need to panic. Staff can't provide you with any seasick medicine, so make sure you do this before. When we were back on the restaurant, we got hot soup and a lady talked about how they take care of sharks and how they are trying to help them. It was a very interesting experience and I'm glad we did it!
A great trip with a very professional group. Everything was arranged. The drive to and from Gansbaii was an enjoyable mini-tour of the area. The shark dive was a once-in-a-lifetime experience! My wife's need for a wheelchair was cheerfully accomodated.
Amazing experience - we booked the tour without really knowing what to expect but were blown away by the whole experience. We were staying out of town but the staff were really helpful making sure we were able to find a convenient meeting point for the minibus. Its a long drive out to the bay but the scenery is stunning so adds to the experience. When we arrived at Marine Dynamics we were instantly impressed with the set up. From the initial briefing we knew it was going to be a great experience, the guides were all very knowledgeable and endering and presented the conservation aspect of the bay and the sharks very well. On walking down to the dock we saw we were on the best tour as they had by far the best boat for the trip - when we got to the viewing site we split into groups, 8 at a time to go in the cage for 20/30mins - we were in the last group so got to sit back and watch while taking on the snacks and refreshments and just seeing the sharks from above the water was impressive but nothing compared to when we got down there! We came litterally face to face with half a dozen sharks, teeth and all - i have to say it was definitley one to tick off the bucket list - i would recommend to anyone - no experience like it and the tour company were supurb and really made the day
