What You Can Expect

Sleeping Baby Panda at Panda Breeding Center

Spend your day with some loveable creatures that will never fail to capture your heart. A hotel pickup will take you to the Chengdu Panda Breeding Center, a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals that strives to simulate a natural environment for these creatures.

Your expert guide will take you through the center to get a full overview of a panda’s development. Learn about the progression from a baby panda to a full grown panda with a visit to the baby panda area, where you’ll admire these small and delicate creatures. Despite their age and size, you’ll see how full of life and energy they are!

Then, head to the area that keeps the young adult pandas. Learn how adolescent pandas, between the ages of one and five, spend this important maturity period. Finally, you’ll witness the giant panda in all its full-grown glory at the adult area. Take pictures of these endangered species eating bamboo, sleeping and playing with one another.

At the red panda area, keep an eye out for the red pandas among the trees or stretched out on a branch with their legs dangling. Choose to feed and take photos with them (see more below). After a morning of admiring these lovable animals, you’ll be transported back to your hotel.

Upgrade to hold a baby giant panda!

Take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hold an adorable baby giant panda, which are six months to one year old, and get your photo taken! With this tour option, visit a different giant panda breeding facility, the Bifengxia Panda Base in Ya'an. Here, enjoy a similar tour to learn about the important and exciting work this center does in preserving pandas. Afterward, follow your guide to a panda enclosure where you will be able to hold a baby panda! This unique experience that lets you admire these rare, endangered creatures up close. Plus, all of the money will be donated to the non-profit Bifengxia Panda Base for research and development. Afterwards, you’ll become a member of the ‘Panda Club’ and receive an authentic donation certificate as a token of appreciation in helping to preserve this incredible species.

After your visit to Bifengxia, enjoy a delectable lunch of local Chengdu delicacies in a lovely restaurant nearby. Then, visit and explore the quaint streets of Shangli Ancient Town with your guide. Discover the old charm of this town which combines ancient residences and the natural scenery of China's countryside. End the tour with a drop-off at your hotel.

One of the best places we have ever been. Even before you see the Pandas the grounds of this place are amazing. Immaculate gardens everywhere. The Pandas are something to be seen to be believed, they are incredible. Our wonderful guide Coral walked everywhere with us and then gave us time to look on our own if we wanted to. She showed us everything there was to see and made sure we got there early as the Pandas are taken inside around 10am as it is too hot for them. We were the only two on this tour and so glad we had Coral as our guide and of course Jerry our driver delivered us safely back to our hotel. Wonderful, wonderful tour.
