Why Our Insiders Chose This Tour

Just outside of Chiang Mai, the second largest city in Thailand, you can get out in nature and have great adventures in the jungle and on the river!

What You Can Expect

Chiang Mai Adventure: Elephant Camp, Zipline, Whitewater Rafting and Long-Neck Hill Tribe

Chiang Mai Adventure: Elephant Camp, Zipline, Whitewater Rafting and Long Neck Village

Upon meeting your guide at hotel pickup you're driven to an elephant camp in the Mae Taeng district, located about one hour away from Chiang Mai. Learn about the significant role of the elephant in Thai culture and history, and have the option to let a mahout (elephant trainer) lead you on a 40-minute elephant ride (own expense).

Next up is a white-water rafting adventure on the Mae Taeng River. After you receive safety gear and a briefing from expert river guides, prepare to get wet on an approximate 40-minute ride. Following this excitement, settle your nerves aboard a traditional bamboo raft as you float down a calm stretch of the river.

After changing into dry clothes, you’re driven to the Mae Sa Valley for your zipline tour through the forest canopy. Fuel up with Thai dishes at a lunch buffet before you’re fitted with a safety harness and given an orientation. Follow your guide to the first platform where you’re attached to a safety line before you take off through the treetops. The 16-zipline course includes a nature walk between sections of the park.

Finish your day trip with a visit to a demonstration village where your guide describes some of northern Thailand’s hill tribe cultures including the Long-neck Karen, Lahu, Hmong and Lisu peoples. Afterward, you’ll return to Chiang Mai with drop-off at your hotel.

Wow, what can I say. Great fun packed day, great people and a great memories made. Highly recommend to fun loving people, be advised this tour is not for the faint hearted though!, we are a young couple that like travel and this day was one we will never forget and the highlight of our holiday. Great price too. We went in late August and were the only ones there so no queing and private tour of the tribes.

There were 4 of us and we had a private tour - we were collected from our hotel in a lovely air conditioned van - our guide and driver were really lovely. First we stopped off at a local food market, as in a lot of other reviews i am not too sure if the elephants are treated that well where we were taken to but we had a short ride on them then we got changed and done the whitewater rafting which was good then changed down river to a bamboo raft - back in the van then onto the zip wires - we are all 50 and we thoroughly enjoyed this experience - was a bit scared at first but after a couple of lines us girls were fine and really enjoyed it then back into the van to the long neck tribe - it was very interesting but even thought we didnt buy anything as we walked through the market you felt and though you should have - we then went onto the elephant poo place where they make paper which again was very interesting - it was a long day but we done a lot and enjoyed most of it

This was a wonderful day and trip. We were the only ones in the group and so the individual attention was great. We had a really good guide who was fun and entertaining. The one thing that bothered me -- we did not have control of the elephant camp we visited. We were rushed through the camp and only spent time riding the elephant and then were rushed to white water rafting. Also, I didn't feel that the elephants were treated as well as I would have preferred. While this tour does NOT say you are visiting an elephant conservation camp, I wish that it had been a more conservation-focused elephant camp rather than a camp where they walk the elephants in a circle over and over.

Wonderful tour guide, amazing rafting and zip lining. We would have liked to spend more time with the elephants who were adorable and the day is very very long so we skipped the long neck tribes
