This is a must do! I had my flight during twilight which was perfect to everything but still with all the lights on. We got a very close look at some of the landmarks downtown, and as there's hardly any air traffic over the city there's flexibility in the route (unlike similar tours in NY for example). The booking went smooth (Ryan at Rotorzen) and our pilot (John) was able to tell us a lot about what we were seeing. Special thanks to Ryan for the ride back to the subway station!
I would give this 10 stars if I could. My husband and I chose this as a special experience for our anniversary. We went just at sunset, as the sun went down and lights came on. It was magical, seeing Chicago from this viewpoint. This was one of the greatest experiences my husband and I have ever done. We enjoyed everything about this ride. It was well worth every penny. Our pilot, Ryan made this adventure incredibly enjoyable and informational and we both would highly recommend him for helicopter rides. Go, if you get the chance.
I highly recommend the evening helicopter ride !!! Our pilot Ryan was the best! He gave us a tour aroud downtown and the highlight of the evening was when we saw the fireworks at Navy Pier--- front row seats in the air!!! Thank you Ryan for a memorable evening! You rock !
Went on this as part of our honeymoon (5/15/13). My husband is a pilot and I am not- neither of us had been in a helicopter. AMAZING! Chicago is spectacular at night and the view puts you at a loss for words. As you glide right alongside the Willis (Sears) tower, you feel like you can reach out and touch it because you're just so close. The helicopter can literally take you to places you've never been before. John and Ryan were excellent guys who made us feel right at home. The only downside was that it was only 30 minutes- We could have stayed up there all night!
Note: If you're going to take a night flight and are planning on using public transportation, I suggest springing for cab fare to get home as it's quit dark out, and bit of a walk to the nearest bus stop!
I booked this tour as a gift to my husband on our 1st wedding anniversary. We both loved it! The pilot was very nice and made us both feel comfortable and welcome.
