We met our guide in the foyer of one of the motels; there were only 4 of us on the tour. We then travelled out to the great wall via mini bus (not the most clean or modern mini bus), where the guide (kevin) escorted us to the top of the wall and then we were given a choice of how long we wanted to spend on the wall. We chose 3 hrs, which was absolutley magical....there was hardly anyone around as we were there very early, it was snowing beautiful big snow flakes and the whole vibe was gorgeous!! After wandering around on the wall, we then walked back down to the village and met up with Kevin and the rest of the party. It was then off to lunch at one of the local village cafes...Kevin ordered for us, which was just a mix of asian style foods. After lunch we headed back to beijing to have a relaxing foot massage, which was much deserved after walking the wall. Our driver wasnt able to drop us back to the pick up point so kevin escorted us on the subway back to where we started...all in all it was a great day!! if you want to see the wall without the fan fare of stopping at all the factories etc, then this is a great tour. The only downside was that if you wanted to spend more time on the wall (which we did), you werent able because you were constricted by the rest of the tour group.

We had a great day with Linda Li at the Great Wall. She was very knowledgeable, fun and very flexible on a cold day in December. The Mutianyu is a great part of the wall to visit. We had a great lunch, Traditional tea, foot reflexology and massage and she helped us with a night show acrobats.

We chose the "small" group tour as we don't like too many people going around with us. It turns out, we were the only two in the tour! We got to the Great Wall so early that we were waking up the people there to take our tickets. The guide, Robert, was excellent as well!

Our Great Wall trip was fantastic. Myself and partner were the only two guests on the tour, so we had a private guide, private driver and private car (sedan) rather than a bus. We arrived very early at the Wall, and were the only people there! Imagine having the Great Wall of China to yourselves with not a soul in sight. The traditonal foot massage afterward was a fantastic experience - much better than what I've heard of people being suckered into Jade shops or other add-ons. Best ever of almost a dozen Viator tours. Highly, highly recommended.

My husband and I booked our Great Wall small group tour through the Viator website. We couldn't have been happier with the local tour operator and their guide, Vivian.
We booked the small group tour to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall because we didn't want to go on a big bus with lots of people and travel to a crowded part of the Great Wall. We were very lucky to be the only people on our tour, so we had a car, driver and Vivian our tour guide all to ourselves! We started out at 6:30am and we were at the wall before 8am. At the start of our walk, we were the only people on this stretch of the Great Wall. It was absolutely fantastic! My husband and I were in awe of the Great Wall.
We took the cable car up the hill and walked along the wall to the furthest accessible point, tower 24. In order to get to this point, you have to climb up the stairs, all 445 of them! The stairs are quite misleading as they start off quite even and not so steep, but the stairs increase in depth as you get higher and the last 20 stairs are a killer! I have to say though, what a buzz to reach the top.
Vivian was a superb guide. She catered to our every need and was extremely bubbly the entire day. She knew all the best points to take scenic and funny photos on the wall and was only too happy to take some photos for us along the way. We ate lunch at a new restaurant close to the wall. Vivian ordered the food for us and it was absolutely delicious!
Thank you Vivian for making our Great Wall and China experience all the more memorable. I would certainly recommend this tour as it was a fantastic experience.

Trip was great! There was only me a another 2 couples on the tour. I met the group at the listed location and was about 1 1/2 hours to get to the Wall. This section of the Great Wall was incredible with spectacular views. You do need to be physically fit since there is a lot of walking and many sections are steep. There is a chair lift (extra costs) if you don't want to do the initial 800 steps just to get onto the wall. You also are taken on the unrestored section of the wall, which was very unexpected and such a cool experience. The local lunch and the foot massage capped off a great day. Highly recommend this tour.

Our tour guide was very attentive and spoke excellent English.
The itinerary was well thought of and organized. We strongly recommended this tour.

This was a great trip - we were just two on the trip and Vivian, our guide was very good and patient and gave as all the time required to do the trek and spend as much time as we wanted on the wall. The foot massage that followed was excellent and really helped in recovering from the hard trek :-). Only two suggestions - 1. This is definitely not 11.5 hours as stated, we started at 7 AM and was done with the tour by 4:00 PM - the information should be corrected 2. The tour itinerary stated that we will be dropped back at the starting point but Vivian said that is not the case and we would have to make our way back from the foot massage location. She walked us to the subway however I think the correct information should be provided as I had made arrangements to be picked up from the start point which I had to re-arrange.

It was indeed a small group - just 5 people. Our leader was very nice, spoke good English, and explained all we needed to know about our tour. The crowds arrived after we had left, and our cozy country Chinese dinner was a delight! The foot massage at the end of the tour was such a blessing. I would recommend this tour to every tourist in Beijing.

The tour started an hour late as they couldn't find one of the guests that was to have been picked up at his hotel, so we did not beat the crowds to the wall. It wasn't really the guides fault. He as excellent, the location in Mutianyu was perfect and lunch also was very good.

Great to see the wall but my wife was sick and we had to reschedule and the tour company charged an extra $50.
