Darwin Jumping Crocodiles Cruise on Adelaide River

Darwin Jumping Crocodiles Cruise on Adelaide River

This Northern Territory wildlife tour from Darwin takes you on a crocodile jumping cruise along the Adelaide River, known for the high concentration of saltwater crocs, aka ‘salties,’ that inhabit its waters.

After hotel pickup and transport by air-conditioned coach, hop aboard your wildlife-viewing boat in search of these primordial beasts. As your guide entices the crocodiles by dangling meat on a line overhead, watch as the crocs come up close to jump up and snatch their food.  While you cruise along, listen to onboard commentary about the menacing creatures and search for whistling kites and white-bellied sea eagles among other birdlife.

After your cruise, visit Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre, situated at a high point on the river’s floodplain with sweeping views over the wetlands. Learn about the area’s natural and cultural history using touch-screen educational displays and observe birds of prey as they scavenge for leftovers.

Your final stop is the Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve, a year-round wetlands and wildlife refuge, located along the Arnhem Highway in Australia’s Top End. Look for an abundance of birds and reptiles before your 5.5-hour tour ends with the return drive to Darwin in the evening.
