Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the 4-Day Cork, Ring of Kerry, Dingle, Cliffs of Moher and Galway Bay Rail Tour. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
We generally enjoyed the tour. However, on day 2, to the Ring of Kerry, it was raining all day, and we would have preferred to be taken somewhere else, perhaps a museum. We were unable to see most of the sights that day, due to the rain. Our other complaint is this: despite requesting to the bus driver to turn down the air-conditioning blower so that we could hear him, he didn't do this. We were disappointed we could not hear him, and it was uncomfortably cold in the bus.
While the scenery was spectacular, there was a lot of waiting around, the B&B was average, and on some segments of the trip, we went for extended periods while on the bus with no commentary from the tour guide. This was particularly annoying when we were passing sites of interest. We did not have reserved seats on the train on the return trip to Dublin, and the temperature in the back of the bus was hot, and the bus driver said there was nothing he could do.
The first part of this tour was wonderful! They got us out to Blarney Castle and Cove on our first day. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and kept us entertained throughout our journey. At the end of the first day we were met by the person who runs the B&B. The B&B that is included in this tour package is about 15-20 minutes walk outside of Killarney. The B&B was fine except that it doesn't have enough hot water for showers in the morning.
The reason why I give the overall tour a 2 star rating is because the tour company that does Dingle and the Ring of Kerry tours is pretty bad. On these tours the bus driver was the tour leader and he didn't really provide any good information on the areas we visited. In fact in 8 hours of touring a day we only got about 3-4 paragraphs out of this person. Also this tour driver brings his rather smelly dog along on the tour.
On the last day we were back on the rail tour. Once again the tour was very good although the schedule was very tight. The Cliffs of Moher was the highlight of the whole tour. Again the tour leader made all the difference was very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend the rail tours and they do a number of one day tours on Viator. If you are stopping in Killarney overnight and will be doing tours with the other tour company, you will be disappointed.
Most of the tour was excellent. Unfortunately, some parts were poorly organized. We often had no idea where we were supposed to be or when. Very frustrating. On the whole it was a pleasant experience, but we really had to work hard in order to know what was going on due to the poor organization.
