Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Celtic Heritage Day Trip from Dublin: Boyne Valley, Hill of Tara and Loughcrew Celtic Tombs. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
Definitivly the "must do" if you go to Dublin. Very interesting, you really see a lot of thing in only one day and it is not tiring. Try the lamb at the restaurant. It is not included but it is worth it. The best lamb I ever eat.
Great opportunity to see the Irish countryside. This is not a tour for someone who just wants to ride around- there is much walking involved, and one walk is quite steep, but the views are worth it. Our guide was very informative, and he made sure the people in the group interacted. Lunch was in a very small town. The Pub was very nice and the food was very good. If you love history this is the tour for you!
This was a great tour and I am glad that i did it at the last minute.Just loved it.The great celtic crosses were magnificent and the Boyne valley and the Hill of Tara where Irish Kings were crowned for a thousand years were all spellbinding. The ancient tombs from the Bronze age ( three thousand years plus old!) with the strange pyschadelic like encryptions were fascinating. It was really a great trip and well titled as Celtic Heritage Day.It made me feel proud and i am not entirely irish but my husband has some Irish heritage and it rubbed of on to me and I was so proud !
It was a great tour and a great tour guide. There were a lot of wonderful history to learn about Ireland, thanks to our very well informed tour guide, who took care of all of us. Highly recommended!
The tour guides were the best! They were not only informative, they turned a cold and wet day with some mucky fields and hills into a fun adventure.
The best part of my whole stay in Ireland! If you want a full day of hiking to pagan and christian sites, lots of great history to learn, and a funny, outgoing, super friendly, and smart tour guide who has a down to earth perspective on life and religion this is for you!
Incredible tour, highly recommended! Caution: requires a short hike up a hill, moderate level of fitness required.
This was a wonderful day trip, very well-organized and packed full. It offered great variety and the driver/guide was superb with a great sense of humour. I highly recommend this tour.
I was pleasantly susprised that the tour was with a mini bus and not herded like cattle like some tour companies. Dave's humor, patience and knowledge was a perfect combination. I would sign up with this tour company again. I think that we had seen a lot of key sites that will leave a lasting impression in me. The Hill of Tara was a very spiritual place and a very important religious site so make sure that you spend time here. Monasterboice was a treat and to see the fine examples of Celtic crosses was phenomenal. Take time to look at the the carvings. Trim Castle was a backdrop of an Oscar winning movie.Drogheda had a very unusual and religious stop that you just can't miss! Just sit back and relax and let the guide take care of the rest. Thanks Dave and kudos to your tour company. Highly recommended!
The tour was a real trip back in time. The sites were all full of history and the guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this tour. Just be aware that there is some walking with some steep hills to climb and weather is unpredictable.
great tour, great tour guide, all kinds of history/storytelling plenty of stuff to see. the weather was kinda crappy for our uphill walk, but that's no ones fault. be sure to wear shoes you can walk up (potentially wet) grassy hillsides.
This was by far the best day trip I took in Ireland. It is the only day trip from Dublin that will take you to see Loughcrew's Celtic Tombs. The neolithic art makes it well worth it. And how could I forget the great guide we had. He was well educated in Irish history and had a great sense of humor. I will definitely take this tour again the next time I go to Ireland.
