Excellent: the driver, loughcrew tombs, Unscheduled stop to Bective abbey. It was excellent value for money - especially compared to the M.G new grange/Tara tour I did. However, we did not: get a guided tour around drogheda, go to Ardee, or even get into trim castle and #39;s keep. But I throughly enjoyed.
Great tour guide which made to a wonderful trip. Darryl gave us so much history, showed us many little sites along the route and made it a fun day. This is a must do!
This tour was quite good. There are two things to note: the tour guide was quite punctual so if you are late you would be left behind!!!! Also wear suitable shoes... especially with grips because you will be doing a lot of walking up and down hills and it was quite slippery and muddy. I fell on the beginning of the tour and basically had to walk around with a huge mud stain on the back of my jeans. The tour guide Carolyn was quite knowledgeable on the history of Ireland. It was also engaging and fun. She made little jokes and played music on the tour to keep our interest from site to site. We also made a lot more stops than what is mentioned which was quite nice.I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who doesn't mind some walking.
Our trip was in November---All in all this was a terrific trip. Worth the money. Our guide was knowledgeable and pleasant. We will plan to do this again the next time we are in Dublin. Lovely countryside and comfortable bus. Very happy.
Nothing less than great. Darren was a great guide, he knows a lot about the subject, and we had a bonus, since he made us enter the Trim castle through an aquaintance of his, who is in the Castle staff. Darren and the driver were very willing and kind, and made us get to know amazing places.

This was a great tour, with lots of history. The Hill of Tara was amazing, lots of history to take in. We were also lucky with the weather for our tour, blue sky's all day and there was an amazing sunrise over the valley and the site when we arrived, just beautiful. The Loughcrew Tombs are perched on top a hill, so for me it was an amazing walk up this green steep hillside maybe not so for my Mum to see these tombs with the historical significance in time. The walk was absolutely worth it. We then proceeded onto lunch at the town where the tour guide was from, which was interesting, as there was nothing to do there, except eat at the pub. Mum and I found this on a number of tours we went on with Extreme Ireland, that the tour guide took you to his hometown, dropped you at a pub or attraction and off they went home to visit family. As we are paying for the tour and to see highlights of this area, the tour guides should be taking us to the sights and best areas to eat, rather than their home towns. Overall, the history we learnt on the tour was great. Just wished the Trim Castle was open to explore at the time...
This was my favorite day trip. It was relaxing and our guide really knew her stuff. The drive beautiful!!
Jim was a fabulous tour guide! He was interesting, funny, and personable. We had a wonderful day in the Irish countryside!! We highly recommend Jim's tour!
This tour was a delight. We had the most awful weather which was becoming more and more discouraging, but our guide was knowledgeable, fun and kept our spirits up during the daylong drenching. Great value for your money!
Outstanding overview of Ireland's Celtic history. Our guide was Darren and he did a great job of giving us the necessary context to appreciate the sites as well as keeping us moving. Would definitely recommend this trip to anyone else visiting Ireland and looking for something a little different.
If you want a sense of irish history, this is the tour. Very little bus time compared to most tours. Lots of time exploring, with a nice mix of town, castle, and ancient Bronze Age. If you have time for only one tour and want to get off the bus and dig into deep Irish roots, this is the one.
This was a great day trip, with lots of content. We especially liked Trim Castle and the Loughcrew Celtic tombs. It was quite a climb to Loughcrew, but worth it.
This was an outstanding tour. The itinerary was excellent, and the guide was well organized, very knowledgeable, articulate, and easy to understand.
Pick-up location was well explained and convenient, as it was located in city center.
The driver / guide Janet was on-site, checking tour participants in when we arrived at 7:40 am. She was knowledgeable about the history of the Boyne Valley area. I was disappointed that we didn't get to see Newgrange or Knowth, but by substituting Loughcrew as a similar underground passageway tomb for these ancient tombs we avoided the crowds of tourists who stop to visit these places. Additional bonuses included a stop at Bective Abbey, time spent at Trim Castle, a delightful lunch in Navan, and a walking tour through parts of Drogheda including a look at historic St. Patrick's Cathedral. I recommend this as a wonderful way to get a sense for the history of the Boyne Valley area.
Great guide, she was really informative and nice, kept a good pace and we had time to enjoy everything. The Celtic tombs were a surprise, not only did you see the tombs but the view of the countryside was amazing we had a clear day. A good tour.
Excellent selection of sights, and a couple of unplanned stops along the way, following the interests of the customers - excellent and personable driver and tour guide. Would definitely do another one like this.
OMG, the tour guide was the best we have ever had. He was certainly knowledgeable about Ireland history, he sang to us and he was just GREAT...we had a blast on this tour and we learned so much. I could have ridden with him on any tour...great tour, interesting, fun and I cannot say enough about our tour guide. I will be sure to use you whenever I go on tours anywhere.
Our tour guide, Gabriel, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The tour was well-paced and we saw lots of beautiful, historic places that are a bit off the beaten path. Overall, you get more than your money's worth. Thank you, Gabriel!

We loved it!!! Great tour, very informative and fun at the same time!
Unfortunately, we were unable to attend the tour. We were really bummed out.
Mike was a great and highly entertaining guide. Covered a lot of ground but never felt rushed and the sights were beautiful.
Great tour. Sandra picked us up on time and was a wonderful guide. Tour was fun and informative. The hike up to Loughcrew was tough, and it hailed as we reached the top, in July. Good time, we will definitely take another tour with Viator.
Wonderful places, lots of history, and an extremely friendly tour guide who provided us with so many beautiful stories and legends about all the places we've seen!
