Great tour, beautiful scenery for Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough. I did the Dunmore Cave as well and it was lovely! Because of doing the Dunmore Cave, I have less time in Kilkenny city itself. I would hope that the tour company can allocate more time for the overall tour so that everyone can go to the Dunmore Cave and have sufficient time in Kilkenny as well. My favourite is still the Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough, superb view and great opportunities for photographs. Great tour guide as well.
I highly recommend this tour. Jim was our tour guide and he did a fabulous tour. He is extremely knowledgeable about the area and the history of the country-side. We skipped the caves and had a wonderful time exploring Kilkenny. We took Jim's recommendation for lunch and it was fabulous. My favorite part of the trip was visiting Glendalough. I really think this tour was the highlight of my trip to Ireland. If you are staying in Dublin and looking for a great day trip, I highly recommend this one.
Wonderful day trip into the Irish countryside. Andrew did a great job as our guide, providing a lot of interesting information about not only the places we visited on the tour, but the small towns and areas in between. Our driver, Karl, did a wonderful job of negotiating the narrow roads. This is a fabulous day trip to several beautiful sites; I would highly recommend this tour.
The only comment I would have to improve this trip was that the order of the day was changed, so that we did Glendalough first and then headed to Kilkenny. This made for a very late lunch, particularly for the folks in our group that did the caves (didn't get back to Kilkenny until about 3:30). Better communication about the timing of the day would have been helpful, as we would have grabbed a snack at Glendalough to tide us over.
Everything was great. Tour guide - Rob, driver Karl (with a K!) We were picked up in Dublin city center and got some information about Dublin as we set out. In between each stop, we were given a history lesson of all the places we were to see.
When you arrive in Kilkenny, you are given a choice on whether you want to stay in Kilkenny for 3 hours or go to the cave and only spend 1 hour in Kilkenny. We stayed in Kilkenny the whole time and it was great as we had a 2 year old with us and he really enjoyed the children's playground outside Kilkenny Castle and we were able to have a more slow-paced visit.
Then we arrived in the Wicklow Gap and took pictures for about 15 min. Then we stopped at Glendalough to visit the lakes. This was our family's favorite part, however, even though you get 1.5 hours here, it takes a big chunk of time (25 min) basically hiking up to the upper lake, wasn't expecting that!
All-in-all, I would recommend this trip to anyone especially given the value!
Absolutely fantastic, tour guide knew exactly what he was on about. Would recommend to everybody to go on. Would go again in a heart beat :)
If you want to see a castle and spend some time in a nice little town, I would recommend this tour. The bus driver was very nice, the bus clean and comfortable and we enjoyed everything we saw.
Great trip to Kilkenny and Glendalough. Just enough background and history to make the sites enjoyable. We explored Kilkenny on our own. It is a small but delightful city with some striking vistas. Glendalough is beyond words, the lake is magical and seems to float and flow into the horizon. It is a short walk to the lake (about 1 mile) but the ground can be rough for some. Andrew, our tour guide, was great, well--spoken and funny with his dry Irish humor! There was plenty of time to explore both venues as well.
Lovely tour and lovely guide- gave good background and history that adding meaning to the day.
Amazing trip - we were able to do quite a bit on our own. We were even given the opportunity to spend more time in Kilkenny rather than tour the caves. Great day!
We had just come off a cruise, and had already toured in 8 ports, so we were a little toured out when we got up early to meet this tour. I must say, Robert, our tour guide, was so wonderful, that we forgot how tired we were. He brought the Irish countryside to life. His fascinating stories and expertise in the region made this day one of the best on our long vacation. As to the sites included, both Kilkenny and Glendalough showed off the countries magnificence.
Great guide and driver. To top the day off we had a glorious day with the sun shining. A super day
Siofa and Karl were fantastic. Lots of facts and interesting information about the areas we visited. Keeping the information in chronological order was a challenge, as it bounced around depending on what area we were in. Would highly recommend this wonderful young lady as a tour guide and Karl as a driver.
This was a wonderful trip filled with great sights and a very knowledgeable guide. Right from the start of the trip our guide made us feel welcome and comfortable. Her knowledge of the past and present history of the area was awesome. My daughter and I learned so much on this tour and loved every minute of it. The scenery was beautiful and every stop we made seemed to be better than the one before. Ireland is a beautiful country and this tour showed us how history changed each area over time Even though it was wet and dismal, I wouldn't have changed this tour for anything. I think that this is probably one of the best tours I have been on. I would do it again certainly and would recommend to everyone. A special thank you to the guide and the bus driver.
The only recommendation I would make is to have the groups a little smaller.
