Newgrange was the absolute highlight of my entire week in Ireland. This tour was the best mix of culture and history. Harry, our driver/guide, as very informative and entertaining. I was on this tour solo, but met lots of nice people and had a great time. All in all, an excellent experience. Even the film that we watched on the way back to Dublin was excellent.
The day had gale force winds and flooding rains, but that is not the tours fault, the only thing I would mention is that when your waiting to see these attractions there is no undercover area? Which is very strange considering Ireland is known for its bad weather! So we froze in the rain and wind waiting to get into the monuments as they have limited numbers at a time. However, had the weather been nice it would have been a great tour!
I enjoyed seeing Newgrange. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly and had a great sense of time. Hill of Tara was also great and very informative. We ate lunch at the cafe at the Newgrange which was pretty good.
Excellent trip. Our guide was extremely informative and a lot of fun! I also appreciated his level of conscientiousness in keeping track of us all! New Grange is not to be missed!
Excellent tour. Michael, our guide/driver was very friendly and informative. Newgrange tour was awesome!
Our guide Harry was great! He was very knowledgable and entertaining. All together a great trip to many places in a short time.
Harry, our tour leader and driver, made this an amazing day - his extensive knowledge and great wit made this fun and painless learning !! I wasn't dressed as well as I should have been for the 'soft' Irish day, but I still had a wonderful time !!
Only wish tour included Knoth as it was so nearby !
I knew nothing of New Grange before this tour and I am so happy that I went to visit the site. It was incredible. From the moment we got on the bus in Dublin, our guide Michael was an absolute joy. It was a pleasure to listen to him recount the history of the sights we saw along the route to Tara and then New Grange. The sites are well kept and our New Grange guide Jackie was so enthusiastic about her subject. A great tour and a wonderful way to spend a day.
Our guide/bus driver Michael was great. He really enjoys his job and was very friendly and informative. The Newgrange guide was also friendly and accommodating of all our questions. It was a great experience.
A wonderful mix of cultureand fun! Our witty and caring driver-guide, Michael, gave us a lot of interesting pieces of information about everything happened to be on our way and some usesul tips (everything fully knowledgeable even for non-native speaking people...). Newgrange and Tara are, of course, mystical spots, but we enjoyed even the stops to say hello to the donkey or to watch Howth wonderful seals. On the bus the atmosphere was cozy and relaxed, and we had just the time to be on our own for a bit without getting bored. Highly recommended!!!
our tour guide was terrific. We were very happy with every aspect of this tour. New Grange and Hill of Tara were fascinating places, we are so glad that we didn`t miss the opportunity to see these amazing places.
Our guide Harry was very knowledgeable and shared loads of interesting facts with us. Newgrange and Tara both very impressive. One remark: the photo accompanying this tour is misleading. It shows the high tower at Monasterboice and the tour does not stop there.
Fantastic Tour! Harry, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and had a plethora of compelling information to share. Both sites are well worth the price of the tour individually, but Newgrange was absolutely one of the highlights of our entire trip to Ireland. The chance to go inside a structure over 5000 years old is an opportunity not to be missed. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Dublin.
Showed a lot of Irish history. Well conducted, guide was very knowledgeable.
Excellent day! Great driver and tour guide. He made sure we had a great day out and shared his country's history very well.
A great historical tour! We were lucky to have a small punctual group of only 9 people. Everything nicely organized, very friendly, funny and informative guide/driver. Newgrange experience is amazing. Don't forget to bring something that you can tie to the Fairy tree at the Hil of Tara. And be sure to go inside the tourist office to register for the tour before boarding the bus.
This trip is a dream for the archaeology lover! This trip was on a small bus (30-ish seats) so it wasn't as frantic as the 50+ seater tours I had been on. Much more low key. The tour guide/driver we had was fantastic, Harry I think was his name. He was full of knowledge and, like every Irish person seems to be, full of stories. Definitely one of my favorite tours!
This was an amazing tour! The whole day was everything I had hoped for. The people at the tour company were friendly and knowledgeable, making the trip really wonderful. I went on June 21st, which is the wrong solstice for Newgrange, but still a good choice. This is a wonderful change from the typical castle and cathedral tour. Our tour guide really knew his history and folklore, and it was great hearing all of the things I didn't know about the area. If you are going to Ireland, you definitely have to go on this tour. The only thing that would have made it better is if the obelisk had vibrated when I touched it!
On a housekeeping note, bus drivers and taxi drivers in Dublin need to learn which tourist information centre the tours go out of. My bus driver and someone else's taxi driver directed us to one that was farther up O'Connell St. That one didn't open until after our tour was due to leave, and it took stopping in several small shops on the streets to find out exactly where the trip was leaving from (we ordered our tickets online, and it's the one closest to the river.)
This tour was very interesting - informative and diverting at the same time. We learned a lot about Ireland's history, mythology, politics and sports on the way, without being bored for a minute... Harry is a wonderful guide with great knowledge and a fine sense of humor - a born entertainer!
Some confusion on the part of the cabby about the pickup location, but once that was settled the trip went smoothely. Maybe could have used a smaller bus.
It was FABULOUS - and Harry made it all happen. A terrific guide and really cool person. I recommend this tour highly. My only caveat was that it was a little hard to find the travel office. A pickup at our hotel would have been nice since we had to take a taxi and he wasn't sure where it was. The street address was a little strange. But Harry - oh Harry. Just simply wonderful.
