The tour was well worthwhile and was good value for money. The tour guide was friendly and informative.
This tour was wonderful. We covered a lot of territory, saw some magnificent views and other sights including Allan Beach. Our only negative was the vehicle as it was older, noisy, and difficult to climb into and out of. Our driver guide Les was excellent, but often we had difficulty hearing him over the car noise.
Had a great day with a friendly a guide who was a wealth of infomation.
Although it rained for part of the day we really enjoyed this adventure.
Fantastic tour. Great. Definitely would recommend it to my friends.
My husband and I went on this tour and both loved it. The commentary was excellent from our driver.
This tour was a great way to get a good overview of Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula. For those who don't like to sit on a bus all day, this was just about the right amount of time. We would both recommend this tour to anyone visiting Dunedin.
Beautiful views - great tour of Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula
Met up with our guide, Mark, of Back to Nature Tours for 10:00 AM tour departure with about 20 people. Mark was hugely informative about New Zealand and Mauri history but also extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife. Stopped at the first university in New Zealand University of Otago, the railway station and New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame in a beautiful, historic, building, Baldwin Street which is the worlds steepest street was one stop and yes the street is very steep 45 degree slope for 350 meters. Climbed by van up the mountain and along the Otago Peninsula for some magnificent panoramic views of the harbor. Finally, up and down a narrow, windy, road to a gravel road where Mark pointed out numerous birds until we got to Allan Beach a 5- minute walk along a trail from the van park. The beach is about a mile long on the Pacific. A stunning view with cliffs, large waves crashing in. The highlight were the 600 800 pound Sea Lines just lying on the beach.
Great tour. I highly recommend.
My husband and I booked our own shore excursions instead of going on those offered by Holland America on our November 2015 NZ/Australia cruise, and this tour turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Our excellent pilot, Nick Hoyle, with Paravion Wilderness Tours, changed our itinerary to avoid some possible weather problems, and how grateful we were to have smooth flying conditions. It was a thrill to land on an open field on Maria Island, and then Nick led us on a walk and provided a picnic of hot drinks and some snacks. We got within a few feet of a calmly grass-munching wombat. On our flight back to Hobart, Nick spotted some whales, which we would have completely missed, and took us right over them for a closer look. Wineglass Bay and the cliffs of Pillar were magnificent. It was a splurge well worth it.
Small group was great with our guide, Bruce. We saw spectacular scenery and had an optional drop off in town where we shopped and visited the Cadbury factory.
Very informative guide excellent stops for photo opportunities. A great time was had by all.
This small bus group had a wonderful time exploring Dunedin. The weather was superb. The scenery was fantastic driving to the old Railway Station, throughout the town and along the beaches. We saw two male sea lions basking on the sands, many beautiful birds and mother/father and their ducklings throughout the tour. Daniel, our tour guide was very informative, polite and above all friendly. Thank you for a great tour of Dunedin.
We took the afternoon trip and our driver met us in Dunedin, which worked out well. The trip to the Otago Peninsula is breathtaking. We walked out through a reserve to some spectacular views, and then drove down to a beach and along the shore. We saw lots of birds, but no seals. It was a beautiful excursion and we enjoyed the walking.
Had a great tour of the area. The small bus went everywhere and the tour guide, Mark, was very informative. We highly enjoyed this tour.
The tour around Dunedin was very good lots of info from Chris who was very knowledgible about both the city and the surrounding countryside
This was a brilliant trip. The guide was fantastic and went beyond to make this tour amazing. I would highly recommend this trip. It was a small group of 7 which made this trip very flexable. Well done viator
This tour was a good value. We got to see much of Dunedin and many sea lions and seals on the Otago Peninsula. The tour guide was exceptional.
Excellent excursion. The sights were fantastic. Very enjoyable.
Tour was great! Be warned though, the drive is long and very curvey. If you are prone to motion sickness do not take this tour.
The Otago Peninsula was an absolute highlight! Did not expect to see Sealions and Penguins up close. Our guide was friendly, informative and it was a great experience to be in a very small group tour. One of the best shore excursions we did in New Zealand whilst on a cruise ship recently.

We took this tour because we were visiting Dunedin for 1 day on a cruise and had limited time. We have visited Dunedin previously however we saw sights of the Otago Peninsula on this tour that we had not previously seen. We saw sea lions and seals basking on the beach. It was a wonderful tour and we recommend anyone visiting Dunedin consider this tour as part of their itinerary.
