I had an amazing time on this tour and the guide was excellent. He had endless information to share with us, and full of quirky facts. His happy disposition and positive energy made for a great trip. I would highly reccomend this tour for anyone who will be spending any amount of time in Edinburgh!
What an absolutely fantastic day even though it was raining. The driver Tony was a wealth of information and always had something going on, either talking or music, to pas the time away as it was a 12 hour tour. When we arrived at Loch Ness the sun came out for the 2 hours we were there so that we were able to explore the area. For anyone interested in seeing locks operate in a canal system it is a great place to see it operating. The scenery was wonderful. Thank you Tony for a memorable day!
This is a great tour. Heather was our driver/guide. She pointed out all sort of neat things about the places we visited, as we as things about places we went by. The Highlands were very beautiful and I wish the tour was longer so we could have seen more. It is however a FULL day. Leaving at 8am and getting back around 20:30 or 21:00. So be prepared.
Wonderfully interesting trip. Tony, our guide/historian/driver was excellent and an asset to the company. He is also hilarious!
Scenery on route stunning and information provided and stories told by Tony second to none. I have a far greater appreciation of Scotland and its history than I had previously, so much so that I purchased a history of Scotland on my trip.
Cannot recommend this trip highly enough - thank you.
Really enjoyable, a great taste of the Scottish highlands. The 12-hour ride is long, but there’s lots of beautiful scenery on the way, with plenty of photo stops at several lochs and glens. Plus the tour guide, Jamie, had a great sense of humour and was very well informed, telling us stories about everything from Scottish history, to local cuisine, deer hunting and renewable energy! Definitely recommended.
Tour guide was very funny and knowledgeable. I recommend this tour who has a few shorts days in Scotland, you really get a taste of the beautiful scenery.
This was the highlight of our trip. We were only there for the weekend and this gave us the opportunity to see Scotland. The tour was long but our tour guide Jamie made it fun and interesting. Scotland is absolutely beautiful and if you only stay in Edinburgh you'll miss out.
The views were beautiful and the boat ride added to the experience, although and added cost.
Our guide, Heather, was very nice and knowledgable. She gave us a lot of information about Scotland's history and geography. She was very responsible (took care of the group) and made our trip unforgettable.
Incredible. Fantastic tour guide (Scot, 24) who did a great job of incorporating history and modern facts with the beautiful scenery.
In fact, I had heard that the one-day bus trip was not good to experience the real atmosphere of Highland. Because I had little time to travel, there was no choice other than the bus trip. Now, however, I would like to strongly recommend this tour specifically to a person who wants to glance at the great scenery of Highland, to find the Nessie at Loch Ness, to have a joyful riding with the guide's funny talking, and also to have a chance to know a nice traveler on the bus during only one single day!
This tour was absolutely amazing! Our tour guide, Scot, made it so much fun. (Seriously, he was amazing! Only 24 and making our lives educational, hilarious, and fun! And not bad to look at either) He narrated the majority of the time on the bus (which I was totally fine with because he had a great accent) and I learned so much Scottish history that I did not previously know. When he wasn't talking, he played some traditional Scottish music for us which made the experience even better. It was a fantastic introduction to Scottish culture and history.
You have to do the boat ride on Loch Ness. Also educational, but mostly just fun to be out on the water of Loch Ness. Who else can say they've done that? The town it's in is quite small, but they do try to hold tourists attention. So you would still be able to find something to do if you didn't take the boat tour.
I really liked that we were taken through both of the national parks and were made aware as we passed locations from certain films (such as Skyfall and Harry Potter). The highlands are the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen (and that's saying something because I'm a beach person not a mountain person). It definitely deserved whichever award it got for being the most scenic route in the world.
All in all, Scotland fully impressed me. I wasn't very excited to go to Scotland, but after doing this tour and just spending a couple hours in Edinburgh, I didn't want to ever leave. Fell in love with the country, which is partly thanks to this tour.
One last thing, the location for boarding the bus in the morning: It's conveniently located on the Royal Mile. We walked up and down just a few blocks looking for what might be our pick-up location just to realize it was literally right across the street from our hostel.
This tour was an excellent way to get a real taste of Scotland! Our driver/guide was exceptional and made the time spent driving on the bus entertaining rather than boring. We were able to see parts of Scotland we would have never seen otherwise and visited several lovely stop points in addition to Loch Ness. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who has limited time but wants an inclusive taste of Scotland!
