Fancy sampling a wee dram o' whisky at the Famous Grouse, and taking a wild waterfall walk? Combine the two pleasures on a small group day trip from Edinburgh by minivan, and discover the real taste of Scotland! With a maximum group size of 16 passengers, you are sure to have a memorable and personal experience on this special full-day excursion.

The oldest (legal!) whisky distillery in Scotland, established in 1775, the Famous Grouse is on the outskirts of Crieff, a lively town which was once the center for cattle trade in Scotland. You will be taken on a tour of the whisky distillery, learn the secret to making Scotland's national drink, and get a chance to taste the finished product.

Feeling mellow, you'll continue over the Highland line, through the beautiful Sma' Glen and onto Aberfeldy. Wade's road crosses the wide River Tay Aberfeldy, and the magnificent bridge is still there to see, next to the Black Watch monument.

If you like the idea of a good walk to clear the cobwebs, your guide will take you up the tree-lined gorge with crashing waterfalls, known as the Birks of Aberfeldy. The walk takes about an hour, or you can explore the town of Aberfeldy instead.

Your final stop for the day is Dunkeld, once the capital of the Christian Celtic Church. The town's 13th-century cathedral reflects the once great importance of this quaint Highland village.

Winner of the Inaugural Scottish Thistle Award for Sustainable Tourism, October 2007.
