Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Private Viewing of Stonehenge including Bath and Lacock. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
The private viewing at Stonehenge was amazing. You do spend a lot of time on the road but it was worth it. We wish we had been able to see Lacock during the day, it was an adorable little town but dark when we reached it. Our friends had done a different tour during the day and were very jealous of our private viewing and being able to go inside the circle of stones.
One of the most incredible experiences I will have in my life! David and Phil were phenomenal. David was hilarious and full of interesting facts, and also a genuinely wonderful person. Anytime a friend comes to London or the UK, I will recommend 100% for them to take this tour because it was unlike anything I've ever experienced.
We took the sunset tour. Wonderful trip! The tour of Bath was fun and we had time to get a snack and shop a little before seeing Lacock. Lunch was great and you must see the 'dog wheel' in the bar. It was raining when we got to Stonehenge so the clouds made it dark. Our group was split into two and each half got to walk inside the stones for 30 minutes. As the sun went down the rain stopped and we could see the sunset at the horizon. Our guide Frank was great and helped us get great pictures of our group. The only bad part of this tour was meeting the bus. We went to the hotel just as directed, but no one there had ever heard of Viator. Turns out our tour was actually a Premium Tour. The Concierge desk in the hotel told us to wait inside, but as the time to meet out tour came and went I asked again and was told that our tour always meets the bus outside on the street. This is not acceptable.
It was great! David was a great guide throughout the trip, he knows a lot and you will learn a lot from him. Bath was somewhat of a quick trip with lines that I could do without, so I'm glad I saw it, but it wasn't the highlight. On Davids strong recommendation, I had "steak and ale" pie at LaCock due to the strong recommendation from David and it was excellent. The place where you have lunch is phenomenal. And Finally, It is not every day that your kids lay on the ground in the middle of Stonehenge! Its something I will remember for the rest of my life.
This is one of the best day trips I've ever been on. It was a good idea to visit Stonehenge early as there was no crowd. Lacock was a treat too as it wasn't overrun with tourists. Bath was more touristy but still a spectacular place to visit. We had ample time at each place and our guide, David, was knowledgeable and entertaining and made the trip much more enjoyable for everyone. This is definitely a trip I'd recommend to other travellers.
Two years ago we did a tour of Stonehenge which was nice, however this tour was spectacular. Being in the midst of these very large stones gives you a real feel of the power needed to erect them. We did the sunset tour and it was breath taking as the sun was setting behind Stonehenge. I would take the trip again just to experience the feeling I had at sunset. Our tour guide and bus driver were very knowledgeable of the areas we visited.
This was the greatest part of our trip. Everyone should make this a must. Victor private viewing was GREAT!!
this was a terrific tour , going inside the ropes at stonehenge at sunset....bath was beautiful, loved lacock but didn't have enough time to explore it..our tour director was fun, with tons of informative info on each place we toured..would totally go again and tell friends to take this tour..
This tour was beyond amazing. Getting to stand within the stones at Stonehedge was an experience of a lifetime. Highly recommend the trip just for this but then you also get to go to Laycock and to the Roman Baths at Bath. Guide was excellent and trip well worth getting up at the crack of dawn.
Great introduction to Bath for future visits . Stonehenge private viewing at sunset was awesome . Frank our tour guide was the best and our bus driver Martin anticipated unplanned pit stops for the tour group. All in all a terrific experience !
After my son and I traveled across the pond to England, it was well worth it to get up extra early to catch the 'Sunrise Tour'. Our tour guide was professional, well informed and very interactive. Although the arrival at Stonehenge was not exactly at sunrise, the rising sun still made an incredible effect on our photos. Best part was walking among the stones with such a small group, we got more than enough time to take pictures, many looking like no one else was there. We even took a bunch of extreme close ups of all the weathering in the stones.
Leaving Stonehenge, we saw the growing line to get in, after the stones are roped off. Incidentally, the ropes are very far away from the stones. Also, the Gift Shop is open early, contrary to prior reviews that it would be closed for the early morning tour.
Absolutely fabulous experience of being the group at Stonehenge at dawn and watching the sun rise - although a bit cloudy and with misty rain - this only added to the historic feeling as one could imagine the Druids emerging from the mists to perform a ceremony.. Stonehenge tour guides/custodians great sources of advice and information while keeping a wary eye to ensure that therules are adhered to and that Stonehenge will be there in its present state for future generations. Highlight was a successful wedding proposal between a young couple from our bus in the middle of Stonehenge.Tour guide Jason gave a very informed presentation about Stonehenge and it's history on the way there. He kept everyone informed all day about coming attractions and ensured that everyone knew time and place of pickups so we were able to keep on schedule. Fine English breakfast in the village of Lacock with time left over for a look around the village.
On to Bath and its Roman Baths - here we were given free reign and able to explore the Baths at our own pace and marvel at the engineering works that the Romans caried out.
Would have loved to had more time exploring the city of Bath but realise that time is limited.
This was worth the extra money and worth waking up at 0400! You arrive at Stonehenge before anyone else, which was nice that you didn't have to.share it with a ton of people. And the fact that "normal tour and visitor" can not walk in/through/around stand next to the stones. They are roped off and have to keep their distance. If you have always want to go pick this tour and get a once in a lifetime opportunity to stand inside the circle!
