Escape on an adventure across acres of beautiful English countryside with fantastic views across the Chiltern Downs and watch lions, tigers, elephants, hippos and giraffes out and about in huge outdoor enclosures.

Opening at Easter 2008, our cheetahs will have a fantastic new 4000m2 enclosure costing in excess of GBP1 million, complete with a rock lookout and watering holes. Visitors will view the cheetahs from an African style hut, where floor to ceiling glass will be the only thing separating them from the animals.

The exhibit will also include a display vehicle where visitors can immerse themselves in the African savannah behind the wheel of a safari Land Rover or test their running speed against a sprinting cheetah time trial. The exhibit will have strong links with the ZSL conservation project in Tanzania, where work has been carried out over the last 30 years to research and better understand cheetahs to help ensure their survival.

Don't miss the new walkthrough exhibit, In with the Lemurs, where the barriers are down and nothing separates visitors from a troupe of ring tailed lemurs as they walk through a little bit of Madagascar in the heart of Bedfordshire.

Re-opening at Whitsun half-term is our hugely successful elephant demonstration, Elephantastic where specialist keepers will demonstrate the training methods they use with these fantastic animals and explain why these are so important. Also don't miss out on the ever popular sea lion and birds of prey demonstrations.

The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is a charity devoted to the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats.   Our scientists in the laboratory and the field, animal management teams at both zoos and our veterinarians contribute wide-ranging skills and experience to both practical conservation and to the scientific research that underpins this work.

By Bus:
The park is served by Centrebus route X31, linking Luton Rail Station, Luton Centre, Dunstable and Hemel Hempstead (Centre and Rail Station) with the zoo. It runs approximately every 2 hours, Monday to Saturday (with some extra peak time buses).

By Train:

The nearest stations are Luton Parkway and Hemel Hempstead Boxmoor (both about 10 miles away from the Park).
