Likely to Sell-out! An Evening in Schonbrunn Palace: Palace Tour, Dinner and Concert regularly sells out weeks in advance. Book ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

Schonbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the imperial family, is considered one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in Europe. The Habsburgs resided here the better part of the year in numerous rooms for the large imperial family in addition to representational rooms. Emperor Franz Joseph, who later married the enchanting Sisi and reigned from 1848 to 1916, was born here in 1830. The monarch spent his last years entirely in the palace, which became the property of the new Republic of Austria only two years after his death. Today, the palace is part of UNESCO’s cultural heritage due to its historic importance, its unique grounds and its splendid furnishings.

You will begin this royal package with a self-guided audio Schonbrunn Palace walking tour followed by a three course dinner at Café-Restaurant Residenz (or Drei Husaren). Within walking distance from the main entrance to Schonbrunn Palace and the Café-Restaurant Residenz lies the Orangery Schonbrunn where a concert of classical music with works by Mozart and Strauss will complete your evening.

The concert offers four (4) ticket categories. Categories VIP, A, B and C refer to the front, middle and rear part of the auditorium respectively. VIP guests enjoy preferred seating at the concert and will be served a glass of sparkling wine during the intermission.

This romantic tour of the imperial apartments starts behind a massive door at the top of the Blue Staircase. It begins in the west wing of the palace, with the apartments of Emperor Franz Joseph and his wife, Elisabeth, which are furnished in 19th-century style, and continues through the state rooms in the central wing, also known as the State Wing. From there the tour proceeds to the richly-appointed guest apartments. The Franz Karl Apartments, which were occupied by Emperor Franz Joseph's parents, Archduchess Sophie and Archduke Franz Karl, conclude the tour.

It is a self guided tour accompanied by an audio-guide (German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Polish, Czech and Hungarian). During the winter, we recommend guests start the tour at 4:00pm at the latest. During the summer, please start your tour before 5:00pm. The tour lasts approximately 1 hour. You may take this tour at any time during the palace's official hours. Please note, we do recommend taking the tour before your dinner and concert at Schonbrunn Palace to appreciate the full royal experience!

Café-Restaurant Residenz Dinner:
Culture and fine cuisine are an excellent combination! The restaurant is located in the Ehrenhof ("Court of Honor"), adjacent to the palace's main entrance. An elegant three-course candlelight dinner awaits you. In summer, dinner will be served outside in the garden terrace. The menu is subject to change, and vegetarian dishes are available upon request (at time of booking).

Mozart and Strauss Concert:
Since imperial times, this was a place for courtly festivities and banquets. During one of these events Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri held a unique music contest. In this historic ambience the Schonbrunn Palace Orchestra performs the most beautiful works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Strauss.

In the first part, you will listen to some of the most marvelous overtures, arias and duets from the operas of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. "Le Nozze di Figaro", "Die Zauberflote" and "Don Giovanni" to name a few. The most popular operetta arias, waltzes and polkas of the "Walzerkoenig" Johann Strauss - from "Die Fledermaus" and "Der Zigeunerbaron" to "Donauwalzer" and the famous "Radetzkymarsch" - comprise the second part. The orchestra is accompanied by two opera singers, a soprano and a baritone, as well as two ballet dancers in authentic costumes.

The concerts are occasionally relocated (without notice) to the exceptional Great Gallery or the White Gold Room located inside Schonbrunn Palace, at the Schonbrunn Palace Theater.
