What You Can Expect
You'll be picked up from your hotel with the option to select a morning or afternoon tour, travel past the farming country with short stops along the way, continue north past the International Airport into the Sabeto Valley.
Sugar is Fiji's principal export earner and green fields of cane line both sides of the Kings Road. During planting or harvest times, oxen are still used to pull ploughs or cartloads of cut cane.
Your tour then continues onto the village of Viseisei, which according to Fijian legends is where the first Fijian's landed. Walk through the village, then travel to Fiji's second largest city, Lautoka appropriately known as the "Sugar City".
Lautoka boasts the largest sugar mill in the southern hemisphere. In Lautoka you can see the marketplace, mosques, the new Hare Krishna Temple and the FSC Compound with it's old colonial homes and 100 year old bayan trees.
The tour returns via a rural back road, the ideal way to see and meet local people at work and play. The high country affords a view of the offshore islands, as you return via Queens Road.

This tour was fantastic, the guide was so knowledgable. Showed us interesting things with great info to go with it, we learnt and saw quite a bit. The only down side is that we didn't have a full day, we didn't want the trip to end.
Brilliant time! The village is fantastic. Bring plenty of money because the handicrafts are so beautiful and you will want to spend so much money. Lautoka markets were wonderful and the products were exceptionally well priced. Viator make the tour booking so easy
a great trip very interesting. Guide very knowledgeable
an enjoyable and welcome cultural insight.
Our guide was very good and knew alot about the Fiji history. The stop over in the place of the first landing was most interesting. We took time to go to the market and even look thru the supermarket, it is always enjoyable seeing what other countries eat.
A good chnage from a resort based holiday
Roses are a great comapany in fiji. Very friendly and helpful Staff. All speak english well.graet way to see the sugar city
Ended up being a private tour. The driver/guide took me all over Lautoka. It was interesting.
We have enjoyed the local Tour.
Lautoka tour was interesting. It made us understand the history . But there was a overlapping in the iterinary between this tour and Sabeto Valley and Garden of the Sleeping Giant Tour. I think we should join Sabeto Valley and Garden of the Sleeping Giant Tour instead. Due to overlapping in the iterinary,It mad e this tour very boring.
Not worth it. It was 3 hours inclusive of picking up and dropping off. Nothing to visit at Lautoka, really. In addition, the visit to the village is the same one under the Vuda Lookout tour which we did two days before. Rosie Holiday was flexible enough to let us change the itinerary to visit the hot springs instead. The only problem was, I wasn't wearing my bikini or had any bathers with me. We were picked up in a 4WD and ended up being the only pax for this tour. Perhaps, everyone else knew better not to book this tour! We past by a rather large wet market, which may interest some but we decided not to stop anywhere as it was pouring rain.
