Beautiful island. Snorkelling was much more amazing than I expected. Unlimited soft drink and beer for the entire time at island was a plus
A very well organised tour. The day was a bit long for us as the sea was choppy and we couldn't use the kayaks, and even snorkelling was hard work. So I guess it depends on your luck with the weather. If you like hanging around in hammocks all day and drinking then go for it. The food was all right, the people were helpful and friendly.
We really enjoyed it, however as we were only doing the half day tour, we should have been on the first submersible boat, as we got on the second we only had 20mins left to swim before the boat was leaving.
There were other people who were on full day who got on the first submersible as it was first come first serve. You should only let half day people on the first boat as they have limited time.
Island is pretty and nice with good resting area, pool is a bonus for kids to play and unlimited drink is great, but the cruise ship is way too crowded going to the island, our family have to split up to even get a seat. Semi-submarine is ok to see some corals but there's hardly any fish to see. Overall still a reasonably good trip to join in.
It was amazing! This was our first day trip in Fiji and they thought of everything from activities to food. The water was crystal clear and just gorgeous. We did every activity they had to offer from snorkeling to stand up paddleboarding.
All in all a very enjoyable day. The staff were very helpful, the lunch was tasty (even for a vegetarian, lots of salads to choose from!) and the activities were fun. I went on the snorkelling safari both times and loved seeing the colourful coral and fish. Many of my fellow snorkelers and myself experienced bites/stings, we weren't sure what they were but they hurt! The pain was fleeting however, just somewhat bizarre as we couldn't work out what caused it! It was great fun renting out the kayak and paddle board. The submarine offered minimal visibility unfortunately but was a good alternative for those unwilling to get in the water. I would definitely not recommend it to anybody who gets claustrophobic!
A favourite moment was seeing one of the staff kindly carry an elderly tourist on board when she struggled with the ladder. Truly lovely!
South Sea Island Day Cruise was good. The submarine trip was good. We could see a lot of coral and fishes. Snorkeling was alright. We could do diving ,kayaking andswimming. We could also sun baking in the beach/ swinging in the hammock. The lunch was good. The entertainment was good . It was a very enjoyable day . I highly recommended it
Well organised tour, enjoyed the activities but we would like to have had a little more time for snorkelling. There are many colourful tropical fish but we also noticed the damage done to the coral by cyclone. A bit windy in the afternoon, so it is good idea to try to do activities in the morning. Plenty of good food and drinks, staff are friendly and welcoming.
Great day had a ball, Semisubmersable was a great experiance, Beautiful, frendly hosts. I would highly reccomend this to everyone. If you visit Fiji than do this tour.
There are a lot of activities for the price of this tour. Worth the money. Free booze. We had crummy weather so water visibility not the best but still good enough to see the small reef sharks patrolling the shallow water near the beach. The one down side was the beach. Beach consists primarily of shells and coral..not sand. Walking on beach is like walking on broken glass/rocks.
The Island was a great deal of fun. Beautiful views and staff. The pick up to the Wharf was delayed and unorganized, and we had to get off the bus and walk a fair distance to the wharf. Once at the wharf it was utter chaos at the ticket desk. Once that was over the ride to the island and the time on the island was delightful. I went on the Combo tour, and would probably not recommend it as it was not really what I expected. You simply sat on the ferry and went from Island to island picking up tourists. I had thought there would have been some commentary or some dialog as we toured.

This was also an enjoyable relaxed day/full day tour. Everybody was very friendly and professional. The BBQ was delicious and the dancing etc on the island good.
However, I thought the glass bottom boat not worth while as it is too shot AND No colourful corals. The corals are bleek and it seems almost dead with only few fish.
On the snorkeling part the corals looked much better BUT once again 20 min is far too short if you go on this tour just to snorkel on the corals. The trip is a bit too expensive for what you can do and see. I will recommend to do ONLY the morning ptour as the afternoon session is just a repeat of the mornings activities.
I gave this tour less than 5 stars b/c its misleading. The combo cruise was nice but the second half of it is cruising around the other islands, basically acting as a taxi for other passengers with an intermittent comment about the island we were approaching and it lasted 2 hours. By the end of the first hour, most of the passengers that were previously with us on the island were asleep. Also, when you do the combo cruise, make sure that you get the specific instructions on how you will be transported back to your hotel. Since our hotel was farther away from the marina than others, we ended up getting left at a hotel to sit around and wait for our ride for 3 hours. It was a nightmare. When the driver finally came back, he nearly drove off without us....the company forgot about us completely. I would recommend doing the full day or just half day South Sea Island Cruise.
Suggest doing the half day tour if your not in Fiji for a long trip and want to get more in. Half a day is more than enough time to explore south sea island as it is tiny. They offer you a 'submarine' which is just a boat with an underwater compartment with glass windows (if claustrophobic do not do this as it is a very small confined space for 20 mins). They offer kayaking and sailing (if the wind conditions are right) which are both good and they offer snorkelling. The snorkelling is very average and there is little to no alive coral there as its all dead. I would suggest spending the extra money and going on a trip overnight to Mana island as you will get to see all the islands fiji has to offer including South Sea. The only problem is you have to stay overnight on Mana Island but from what i Heard the food and accomodation is great there!
The island is so small, and so crowded, the local Fijian people there were so noisy, we didn't even can get a beach chair to sit on, no relax at all. The food provided at BBQ lunch is so so. Snorkeling is great, a lot of fish there. We went to another island called "Bounty Island" which is much much less people, very relaxing there, better facilities and we found nemo fish at the coral reef there!!
To be very honest, this tour was fun, but not worth the 106 USD that my husband and I paid for it. We somehow missed that this trip is booked with South Sea Cruises who we realized once arriving monopolizes the cruises to the islands and is therefore able to charge a lot of money for very little time on the islands they cruise to. Nevertheless, the island itself if tiny, there are way more people on the island there for the tour than there are umbrellas to rest under, there are free soft drinks and beers/wine, the snorkel trip is well worth it and free because there snorkeling around the island itself is poor, and there is a bbq lunch... just a few bits of information to share. Oh, back to the lunch... SO BAD. We were disgusted. Try to bring your own snacks if you go on this cruise. Another positive note about this trip though, is that it is fairly close to the marina so the time on the boat is limited and time on the island if you are able to get an umbrella is fair.

I did the full-day cruise. The island is wonderful, and the food is great. They performed a wonderful dance for us. I marked it down because they really went slack for the latter half of the day. They have a schedule up, and it is just for looks. They followed it up until the half-day people left, and then they leave the rest of us there with no activities for the second half of the day. The boat came to pick us up more than 45 minutes late, and if you got stuck sitting in the back on the way back, you are sucking fumes. I had gone on a different cruise the day before, and this one just didn't live up to that one. If you do go, then just do the half-day, but they don't have hotel pick-up for the half-day. It is lovely on the island though, but the people don't get to know you or care too much about how you're doing.
Pro's- short trip to the island. Food and drink included-also alcohol.
Con's- beach is made up mostly of white coral, have to wear shoes or flipflops most of the time if you don't have tuff feet. Snorkeling was just ok. Go with the guides for the 20 mintues tour because you won't see that much off the beach. Hospitality seemed a little forced. Submarine tour-If there is lots of people they will do two trips throughout the day. Don't go on the first tour because they will crowd the boat with 25+ plus people. Go on the second one when there is usually only 6-10 people.Submarine has no room to move around in and it gets hot and stuffy with the 25+people. Glad I saw the island, but wouldn't be one of the islands I go back to.
The day started fine - the bus picked us up on time. We get to the boat and it was so overcrowded we couldnt sit 3 of us together - in fact we were lucky to find a seat at all.
The day on the island was great
But to end the day the bus dropped us off nowhere near our resort leaving us having to source our own way back to our resort - which ended up being in a taxi - when a tour says it will pick you up and drop you off at your resort, thats what i expect
None of the drinks were free at all we were informed we had to pay separately very disappointing
Would not recommend this trip at all. The boat that was supposed to be picking us up for our return trip had 'problems' and was delayed 4hrs leaving us on the island until well after dark .Defiantly would not spend a full day on the island again, for what is on offer it is way too long. Also take your own food unless you like leather-like steak and under cooked sausages.
