I knew the general description of this experience but it far exceeded my expectations. When talking about a riverboat cruise I was expecting a small boat that had covered seating much like a ferry but instead we wore life jackets and got in a long thin boat holding only up to 16 persons with a motor on the back and it was great. The visit to the native Lapland crafts and home was so interesting, much more than just trying to sell items to the tourist it was a true learning experience. The reindeer farm and meal were very special. Then to top it all with a visit to Santa Claus was fun.

This was an amazing one-day trip from Helsinki. The tour guide was friendly and chatty, and he spoke very good English and answered our questions. Santa Claus Village was very special even though we were there in the middle of summer and there was no snow. The reindeer farm was informative. The ceremony of crossing the Arctic Circle will remain with me for years to come. It was just a pity about the mosquitoes. The river boat to and from the farm was very relaxing, and the scenery was fantastic. At no time did we feel rushed, and we were back in plenty of time to catch our plane back to Helsinki. I thought this would be something to do only once in a lifetime, but we really must get back some day to do it when there is snow. It was a truly special experience. Well done to all concerned.

It was good that even though I was the only one signed up, the tour still departed for the morning trip to Santa Claus Village. For the afternoon cruise and trip to the reindeer farm, I was sent to join another tour operator, as the two agents worked together and cooperated to save costs.
