What You Can Expect

Aperitivo Tour of Florence

Enjoy Tuscan wine on your aperitivo tour!

A popular social tradition in Italy, aperitivo comprises snacks and drinks to be enjoyed in a bar before dinner. Milan is believed to have started the tradition in the early 1920s, and other Italian cities quickly caught onto the trend.

Your aperitivo tour will begin at Piazza della Repubblica in central Florence, where you’ll join up with your guide and set off across the Ponte Vecchio to the Oltrarno district. First head into an artisanal gelato parlor to treat your taste buds to a mojito sorbet. While you sample, your guide will fill you in on the aperitivo scene in Florence.

Stroll to a wine bar for a flavorful glass of Chianti Reserve or Brunello di Montalcino, two top-notch Tuscan blends. Your wine will be complemented with local prosciutto, an array of creamy cheeses and wild boar salami. Learn about the characteristics of each wine from your guide as you sip and how they pair with your snacks.

Continue toward the Piazza Pitti, where you’ll enjoy a house cocktail with snacks at another wine bar. The aperitivo dishes tend to vary, but typically include Tuscan favorites such as bruschetta drizzled with garlic and tomatoes. Your tour will conclude at the bar, where you can continue drinking and sampling, if you wish.

This tour was one of the highlights of our time in Florence. Not only did we come away with a great amount of knowledge regarding Florence, its foods, its customs and its wonderful aperitivos, we also came away with very full tummies! Our guide was spectacular, the tour was amazing and we would do it again for sure!

Lynda was just delightful and took us all around Florence for a flawless early evening. We had just met up with some friends from the states and she was such a good addition. Excellent variety of stops from wine cellar exploring to truffles to tasty gelato. Would book with Urban Adventures again!

This is the tour that could've gone horribly wrong. Just as the tour was to begin, the rain started. I was then told I was the solo traveler. They could have cancelled but instead I had a lovely personal tour with Gemma hope I got the name right sorry if I didn't . We went to three different and interesting establishments and enjoyed the wine and appetizers. Along the way, I learned many interesting facets of Florence. This is highly worthwhile tour.

A fantastic experience with Luca our tour guide. We saw some great little out of the way spots - including a roof top bar with stunning views over Florence. Great wines - you get to choose, so if you only like white, or red, or whatever that's fine. And something light to eat at each stop too. Good to do early in your stay as you can get some other tips and recommendations too. Fantastic.

This tour was fabulous! My husband and I were the only ones on tour, so ended up with a private tour from Linda. We went to some great spots, that we would never have found on our own - all very different from each other. Linda also pointed out the sites along the way as well as collecting the business cards of all the places we went to, as well as some of her recommendations along the way - so that we could find on our own.

We had some amazing aperitivo and tasty snacks at some amazing local hangouts and hidden away places. Linda even sent us an email with other recommendations for other places that we visited throughout Italy.

Great host, great city and tour. I highly recommend this tour!

We met our tour guide Linda who was fantastic at Piazza della Repubblica. The directions to the meeting spot were very accurate and Linda was right on time wearing her identifying lanyard. Our tour ended up being very private- it was supposed to be a small group but I guess no one else signed up. Linda walked us to the 3 sites- at each site she helped us order a snack and drink based on our preferences. The tour includes these purchases so Linda would just handle the interchange with the vendor- to get the most Authentic/Local experience we just let Linda select our items for us. At our first stop we went to a tiny store that was established in 1875 and we had some red wine and Crustinis with unique toppings- DELICIOUS, second stop was a rooftop terrace with beautiful views, there we had traditional cocktails Negroni and Aperol Spritz, the final stop was at a winery storefront owned a one of the oldest wine families in Florence- there we had some prosecco and truffle sandwiches.

The food and drink were great, but the real value in this tour is the guide: Linda. Throughout the entire tour she would talk to us about everything Florence, from the architecture, to the history, to current/pop-culture facts, to information about the locals, to tips on what souvenirs to buy where. No question was off-limits, Linda was very friendly, fun and knowledgeable also spoke perfect English- so do not worry about communication. Linda even went out of her way to help us a couple days later when we had an issue with an un-related tour in Rome.

This tour was a perfect way for us to explore and get to know Florence. We truly were surprised by this experience and highly recommend it. Wear comfy shoes, plan on a 2.5-3 hour experience, bring a camera. Enjoy!!!
