The highlight of this tour for me was seeing the church where St. Francis ministered in the 1200's. That said, there were a lot of other beautiful sights along the way. It's important to know that both of the towns visited are hilltop towns, so not only is there a lot of walking- it's uphill. Was fine for us, but may not be ideal for someone elderly or with any sort of mobility issues. Our tour guide was nice, and the one who showed us around Assisi was knowledgeable. We enjoyed the tour overall - maybe would have liked to have more time in Cortona. It was raining the whole day, so that was a bit of a downer, but that wasn't the tour or guide's fault of course. This is a good and fairly inexpensive tour that will take you places from Florence you may not have had the opportunity to access.
It was a small group..but a great tour....comfortable 2 hr. Drive to Assisi with the beautiful Tuscan countryside to see..we were met by a very knowledgeable guide at st. Clare's church who walked us thru town to ST Francis ' church ..then free time to have lunch ....only wish we had more time in this charming town...Cortona was fun but by the time we arrived it was late and getting dark..also raining and most shops closed...our bus driver and guide were superb..highly recommend this tour
Great tour, the weather was a bit hit so we did run through Cortona hoping to see as much as we could before it rained, but was lovely to get into these two lovely Hill towns and wander around. the Guide was great as was the town guide in Assisi. The guide warned us about the food in Assisi he was right it was awful, make time to pick something up in Cortona if you do it first.
Great day. Our guide Antonio and driver Raphael were wonderful. Even when we got in an accident! We were only delayed maybe 10 minutes at best, they made it seem like nothing had happened which was nice. I wish we had more time in Cortona as it is a great small town.

This was a well-run tour with expert knowledgeable and friendly tour leaders. We needed some assistance getting up into Cortona, and our tour leader arranged a taxi to take us from the bus to the meeting point up in town. Our driver was very good and competent and had water bottles for sale during the trip, which was greatly appreciated.
This tour was incredible. I saw so much of what I wanted to see in these two historic hilltop towns. I would recommend anyone to try viator.com whenever travelling abroad.
Always wanted to se assissi now I want to go back again it was so beautiful!
Awesome! Everything We expected and our local guide was passionate about the history of Assisi. Enough free time if you don't eat at a sit down restaurant. The little church inside the larger church was amazing. We bought some wine to take home from a local shop and the shop owner invited us to her home for dinner. Cortona was also very pleasant. Go to the jewelry store that the guide offers as a suggestion. The history of the building was amazing.
The weather was perfect. The ride through Tuscany was beautiful. Cortona is a lovely old town and Assisi is just beautiful. There were no crowds. Our guide on the bus was informative and good-humored. Our guide in Assisi also knew his stuff and made it very interesting. This was a day well spent.
I have been to Assisi twice before but this trip showed me much more than other trips.
I do have trouble walking and it should be made clear that both of these places are at the top of high hills with cobble stone roads on the way up. It is worth the climb but it is easier if you know before hand about the climb.
The trip to Assisi and Cortona was really full of history. Our guide in Assisi provided so much detail as we toured the churches and walked along the quaint streets. Our stop in Cortona was free time to either visit a local business that makes women's shoes and jewelry or there were museums to see.
Absolutely fantastic! There were only six of us that day so it was very relaxed and the guide could pay attention to all of us. One thing though, the meeting place described on the confirmation was very confusing. We ended up waiting outside Santa Maria Novella train station but actually the tour guide was across the street in front of Burger King. Maybe drop the whole "outside of Santa Maria Novella station" from the description of the meeting place and just say in front of Burger King.

This day trip is beautiful. Great tour guide. Nice bus and great history. Cortona was a nice surprise. Beautiful.
Great trip to two marvelous towns. Each had its own character and our guide was helpful in pointing out highlights.
This was a great tour! We traveled by coach first to Cortona. Cortona was a very charming little Italian village with shops and restaurants. My only negative was that we were only able to spend about an hour in Cortona. We would have liked to have spent a little more time there. We then moved on to Assisi, which was very beautiful. Just a word of caution, both of these towns are perched on the side of hill and there is a lot of uphill walking. We had a guided tour in Assisi which was quite interesting. Once again, the only issue I had with this tour was that we had about 10 people in our group that only spoke Spanish. The tour guide we have to explain all details in English and then Spanish. This definitely increased the length of the tour somewhat. Overall, I would definitely recommend this tour. And Luca, our tour leader, was very good!
It was a rainy day but that did not dampen our excitement in seeing these two medieval towns. The tour was well organised. It ewas a small group. There was no guide inside the church of Santa Maria d Angeli. The Assisi guide was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and indeed told us a lot of stories in the lives of St Clare and St Francis. The Cortona tour was good. You however should read up on this city as there ewas no guide to help us out. The town was deserted as it was raining and most of the shops are closed. You just have to feel the town and be mesmerised with the sights you see.
If you are a fan of Saint Francis, then this is your tour!
Cortona is a great town with great views. The tour takes you to a local jeweler. We were very impressed with their merchandise. It was reasonably priced and well made. We then toured the village for awhile and headed back to Florence.
Tour guides were good.
