WOW! Easily the best tour I have ever been on. Freddie and Lavinia were 100 outstanding! I am so glad we did this. We were an enormous group, and Freddie and Lavi took the time to learn everyone's names, where we were from, etc. Their commentary was always insightful and usually very funny. They kept track of everyone across all 5 towns, despite how insanely busy it was. All of our train tickets were paid for and organized, and lunch was excellent. I'd do it again, just to hang out with those two :
Important note: This is NOT a cutesy stroll. It is a HIKE. I would consider myself very fit, and it was definitely a workout. I'm a firm believer that this was the best way to experience Cinque Terre, but if you aren't into it, you can simply train from one town to the next and meet the rest of the group when they arrive. Don't be the girl that shows up in flip flops-- seriously.

The tour covers all 5 towns and we experienced local train, boat and hiking/climbing with fantastic views. Lunch was awesome at the local restaurant with great food and service. Johnny and Freddie are funny, informative and well organized tour guides! Just wish we can spend more time there.
My family and I took this tour the second week of August with Lavi as our tour guide. While my wife and I had been to Florence previously, our 12 and 16 year old boys had not, so we thought that it would be nice for the boys to see some sights outside of the City of Florence. And are we ever glad that we did! Overall, we all loved this tour.
Each of the five cliff-side towns were amazing, beautiful and unique. The views from the cliffside hike was truly spectacular! We also had just the right amount of time to spend on our own exploring several of the towns. I also found it especially interesting because we also were able to take both the local train and ferry, each of which provided a different perspective on local life. The lunch was perfect, both food and service were great. However, what really helped make the trip extra special was Lavi, who knew so much about everything that we saw, and really took a personal interest in ensuring that all on the tour were well taken care of and enjoying themselves. While on the bus en-route to and from Cinque Terre, Lavi was an endless source of interesting information about all that we saw.
This tour was certainly one of the highlights of our trip to Italy, and is one that I would highly recommend!!!
A fantastic day, the guides were excellent shout out to Freddie and Jonny and made the trip so much more memorable. Would definately recommend this tour.
OMG!!!! Johnny what a fantastic tour guide, fun, caring, passionate about his job and very serious about ensuring ALL his guests are well looked after. The Cinque Terre Hiking day trip was the highlight of our trip, not only did we challenge ourselves by doing the hike but we met such wonderful people along the way. The sights were amazing and the villages beautiful. Every step of the way our tour guide Johnny made sure everyone on the tour was okay and accounted for, escpecially when it was time to get on the busy trains!! Johnny you were amazing and if I ever do this hike again I will definitely be asking to be on your tour and Walkabout what can I say we booked 3 tours through your company during our Europe journey and each and everyone of them were unforgettable experiences with tour guides who really care and really know their stuff. Congratulations on a great company.

This day has been a highlight of trip so far! Lavi and Martina were outstanding, enthusiastic, knowledge and helpful. They really made the day what it was. Saw so much all in one day, I couldn't recommend this trip enough! And the food....amazing!
If you like to hike, you will LOVE this trip. This is probably not for the beginner hiker like me. I made it through. Although I prefer looking at nature through my window at the Ritz Carlton, I have to say it was one of the best organized and scenic activities that I have ever participated in. I can't personally say that I would do it again...but, if you like the outdoors and are somewhat active, YOU will love this!
I had such a wonderful time! Highly recommended you guys. You don't wanna miss this. :
Freddie was one of the greatest tour guides we've ever met: organized, well-informed, engaging, interested, caring and hard-working. It was a 12-plus hour day, but he made it fun and informative. Highly recommended.
Great taste of spaghetti with pesto sauce, good tour guide, good programme
One of the best experiences of my life. The hike alone is a challenge in a great way. Do it when it's not so hot, I did this trek in 38 degree. Included lunch was amazing with fresh fish antipasto. Air conditioned bus ride. Boat ride, weather permitting. Good amount of free time to explore the towns
Fabio was a fabulous guide, trip was fun and informative- WALKABOUT company guides are knowledgeable, professional, and trip is highly recommended!
Gloria and Lavi were amazing tour guides! So energetic and enthusiastic. Great day!
This is an amazing experience which my husband and I in our late 50s will always cherish. The company is really well organized. Interesting tidbits of information pertaining to the passing countryside was given on the way. When we arrived at town 2 Manarola we walked around the terraced gardens. Wethen took a train to the foot of the hill which is town 3 Corniglia. The 382 steps up to the town were interesting, but not overly difficult. A brief tour of the town culminated in a delicious lunch in a beautiful terrace. We had a mixed plate of fresh seafood, which is not at all the Fear Factor some might think. I bullied my husband into being brave and he was so glad he did. It was delicious, as was the pesto pasta. We then began the 1 hour hiking trek over to town 4 Vernazza. The extreme temperatures high 30s did add to the intensity of the workout, but it is quite doable. There are some things I would recommend if doing this on really hot days the hike will cause you to sweat as there isnt much shade on the path. So: 1. Bring an extra shirt and water. There werent many opportunities to fill our water bottles, something I wish the guides for Walkabout might address. 3. Wear waterproof sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and sturdy hiking shoes.Once in Vernazza, we had over an hour and we asked the guide where we could sit in the shade and have a drink. Although he gestured to the yellow umbrellas near the water, when we arrived we discovered that meals must be purchased in order to sit there. We met at the train station and went to town 5 Monterosso and then boat from there to town 1: Riomaggiore. Apart from the water situation, my only other recommendation for the guides would be to offer more photo opportunities/suggestions/assistance. Good vantage points you could recommend, or take the time to point out, would have been very much appreciated. At times, the pacing felt like: rush wait rush- wait. Overall, its an excellent tour.
Amazing tour! This is with Walkabout, which is by far the best tour company in Florence. Freddie and Lavina were amazing guides. They are very knowledgeable and despite the large group they learned everyone's name and got to know them. It is a bit rushed in a few of the towns, but it's cool that you get to see all 5. Lunch was delicious. Definitely a must-do!
Excellent trip. Well organized with awesome tour guides. Please note there is a lot of walking/hiking, appropriate shoes are required. Experienced a little bit of everything. Traveled by train and boat, hiked along beautiful trail on side of mountain with amazing vistas, took a dip in the Med and ate local food. Don't hesitate, book now!
Great day hiking between the five towns, absolutely gorgeous views of the coastline, a nice lunch, and a chance to take a tip in the water. We had some rain in the morning but it did not stop us from enjoying the hike. The trail has some climbs so you need to be in at least moderate shape and the pace is brisk. Bring your camera because there are some great photo opportunities. This is not your traditional tour of large groups moving slowly together listening to a guide talking over headsets. Our guide was Johnny and he was enthusiastic and kept us engaged and moving. You will have free time in each town to explore and treat yourself to some gelato. If you like the outdoors and hiking, this is the tour for you.
Great trip! A packed day that included an informational bus ride to Cinque Terre about 2 hours - but time went by quick with the guides' great historical comments, two train rides, a 90 min hike thru the hills, and a 20 minute boat ride. Also about 30-60 minutes of free time in each village. Given all of the above logisitcs, I couldn't be more impressed with our two guides, Gloria and Lavinia. They were very sharp, friendly, and caring. Seemed more like our friends than our guides. One final note....the Cinque Terre itself is stunning!
I will highly recommned this trip to any of my friends going to Tuscany.
Highly recommended! A beautiful day on the Italian Coast for spectacular scenery, great food, lots of exercise. The amount of hiking is just enough, even in the heat of August, but not too much! Lunch was delicious with a great view and there was just enough time in the towns for some local wine, a snack or some gelato. Freddie and Stephano made sure that we were informed and knew where we needed to be and when, but otherwise you could hike at your own pace and did not get the feeling that you were on a tour. They were informative and were fun leaders. The combination of train, hiking and a welcome boat ride down the coast was a great combination along with a nice bus ride through Tuscany. Ricardo our driver got us to and from safely and efficiently. You won't regret taking this tour!
It was a very busy, fun filled tour. Our guides Fab and Jonny made the day! The villages are beautiful and Fab recommended options for our free time in each. We swam in the sea, ate gelato, wine tasting, fresh seafood. And amazing views throughout. It's a total must do tour!
Fabian and Johnny were FANTASTIC tour guides! They were funny and most importantly: encouraging. About 3/4 of the way through the seemingly unending hike Johnny kept pace with me, kept me entertained and forgetting the burning in my legs and lungs and encouraged me to finish it out strong. The hike was tougher than I expected but SO worth it. The views were indescribable and the clear water waiting at the bottom was worth the strenuous activity.
