My husband and I had an incredible time on this day trip. The guides were wonderful and the sights were beautiful. Although some people in our group chose not to go on the hike, we did not find it too challenging. We went at the end of October when the weather was cooler. We would recommend this tour to anyone taking a trip to Italy, it was one of our favorite parts of our trip.
A fun fun day. Our guide Chris was great and fun. This is not a tour for those not prepared for a pretty good hike on uneven terrain but it is so worth the effort!
An awesome tour - Alex was fabulous and everyone on the tour had a great time. They catered for some in the group who could not manage the hiking while the rest of us enjoyed the amazing views. The villages are all beautiful and this was one of the highlights of our trip. Lunch was fabulous although do make sure to fill your water bottle early on as they would only let us refill in the bathrooms once lunch was finished. Although the sea was a little too rough for the return boat ride we were shouted a wine at the end and had a fabulous day. Walkabout Tours are highly recommended.
I was pleastantly surprised to find our leaders on this trip to be engaging, knowledgable and fun to spend the day with. Freddy was funny and full of unusual information about the region, and Angel was charming and extremely attentive to my own personal needs as a novice hikers. They were a good team. I needed quite a bit of support on the trek, and Angel was more than happy to hold my hand during some of the more challenging turns in the hike!. These two worked really hard to ensure that we were having a great day and I appreciated it. Cinqueterre is beautiful, so the day was a joy to behold.
Amazing tour, we absolutely loved it! Freddie was our guide and he was wonderful! He was friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and engaging. It was a highlight of our trip!
Our guide Julian was very knowledgeable and friendly, and takes good care of the needs of the guests. The trip was very good, albeit the rainy weather (we went in mid October), and the towns are very quaint and colourful. The coastal views of the place was very beautiful during the hike from one town to the next. Do visit the liquer shop 'Cantina du Sciacchetra' when you are at Monterosso for a pleasant experience with free wine tasting and a very generous and friendly shopkeeper.
The Cinque Terre Hiking Trip was amazing. It was our favourite part of a 3 week trip to Italy. Such a beautiful part of Italy!! You have to be in good shape for this tour, steep declines as you hike through the Cinque Terre National park. Also lots of steps, hills, to train station etc. The views are breathtaking and so worth the hike! we were able to see all 5 villages, spending a little time in each one. It was truly amazing to see how the local Italians farm the terraces of the Cinque Terre. We saw Kiwis, pomegranates, grapes, olives, lemons, apples and vegetable gardens thriving in early october!! Would highly recommend the trip. Our tour guides Barbara (Italian born) and Alex (American/Italian) were wonderful young people. There were excellent and very knowledgeable. The boat on the Mediterranean Sea and view of the villages was the icing on the cake!! We miss it already and would love to return for a longer stay. We took at least 6 Viator tours while in Italy and they were all excellent. Bravo!!
It was an amazing trip to Cinque Terre. The guide gave a very informative commentary on the way there and explained the programme to us very clearly. She is very experienced. We started from somewhere in Corniglia where we have to do a downhill trek. It took us approx 2 to 2.5 hours to complete the trek to the town Corniglia where we were rewarded with a sumptuous lunch. We spent some time there after lunch before proceeding to the next village by train. Although it was downhill, the path was narrow and rocky at some points. Fortunately I brought my walking aid which helped eased my sore knees. Along the way we saw the homes and garden / backyard of the people who are living there and it is amazing. Our trek mates were very helpful and cooperative in that they helped each other and waited for one another at every change of direction. As there are trains linking the villages the train and boat ride was included. As there were a few delays in the trains we got back to Florence at about 9.30pm. Fortunately we already had in mind where we wanted to have dinner after the excursion as we anticipated we would be late. I would recommend this excursion to anyone who wish to see the Cinque Terre and do a little trekking. We are very satisfied with this excursion as we had an awesome time. Thanks Viator.
Fantastic trip - Angel and Freddie were excellent tour guides who provided great information and a fun day hiking at Cinque Terre. They obviously love their jobs and were so enthusiastic and made sure everything ran like clockwork but still ensuring we had a fun day. I would highly recommend this trip as it was a highlight of our travels over the past 6 weeks. Thank you!!!!
Loved this trip! Everything was so well organized, Angelo and Sandra from Walkabout Tours were soo nice and made our trip so enjoyable. They were always with the group and made sure to increase interaction within the group. Cinque Terre is awesome and is a must see on your trip to Europe!
We can not say enough about this tour. Our guides Freddie and Sandra were fabulous. They were both warm, fun and knowledgeable. We were lucky enough to go when there was a train strike so we did some extra hiking. Freddie and Sandra handled the uncertainty so well-they kept us to a scheduled were we still made our lunch ( yummy), made the train in a further town( when the strike was resolved) and made the boat ride. The extra hiking was actually a bonus! The combination of a bus ride to and from Cinque Terre and a train ride and a boat ride is really not to be missed. Did we mention the beautiful scenery and walking around in the towns? Hiking shoes or sneakers are a must. This hike is not for some one who is very slow or extremely out of shape. We hiked about 6.5 miles.
Thank You Freddie, Sandra and Viator and Walk About
Well worth the trip, Barbara the guide was excellent, you see enough to give you a taste for the area, plus a pleasant walk to give enough exercise to make you feel that you have made an effort. Lovely views and villages, highly recommended.
This was the best tour we went on while in Italy. Be forewarned, wear appropriate shoes or you will pay for it later in the trip. The hike had awesome views and was pretty challenging - but you get rewarded with awesome views and then a delicious lunch after the hike (with a seaside view). This tour allows you to visit all of Cinque Terre using all modes - bus, train, and hike - and is done in a fun, organized way. It's a jam packed tour with everything taken care of for you. Book this tour, you won't regret it!
