Best day of my three weeks in southern Europe. Nice combination of activities...hiking, trains, boat, food, free time. Vernazza was crowded but the other three towns we visited were charming and inviting. Our guide Freddy was outstanding, informative, funny. It's a long day, over thirteen hours, but a good way to see a lot in a short time. Only problem was that the hiking was too fast to allow time to stop, rest, and take in the views.
This tour is excellent value for money and I would recommend it to the majority of people. There is a lot of walking involved up and down so not for unfit travellers, but overall I thought it was one of the best excursions I've been on. The guides were excellent and gave a little history of themselves which was really nice and they made the effort to speak to everyone. The places visited were beautiful and the views were spectacular. Before the boat ride, it's a must to buy a bottle of local wine and take on board with you to drink. We did this along with another few couples and we've made some lovely friends during the day who we'll be keeping in touch with. You won't regret this if you book it, it's fantastic!
I am not a person that takes a lot of organized trips but I can honestly say this was the best! Alec and Beatrice were excellent guides. Sometimes in tours you have to hurry up and wait for people but with this tour they provided back up plans to participants if we got separated. Beatrice and Alec had an uncanny way of managing the group without feeling uncomfortable of being in a group of about 20 people for each guide. We walked the most fantastic area of the Cinque Terre, took trains and the boat ride along the coast gave another perspective of this fabulous coast. Lunch was incredible and the view from restaurant just added to this positive experience. Beatrice and Alec also recommended some local merchants (bakery/ gelato places) for our free time and they were all excellent suggestions. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
Excellent tour. Excellent views. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. The hike, although somewhat physically demanding was well worth it, Lunch was divine and the boat ride back was beautiful and a wonderful way to end the tour. I highly recommend this tour.
Just an amazing day. Great guide, great historians. Just amazing hike. Bus was comfortable and clean. No bathroom though. Travel was easy, got to swim in the sea. The villages were so beautiful. Thanks Freddie!!!!
Guides (Freddy and Angel) were so knowledgeable is an understatement. They were friendly, funny, and how can they control a crowd of 50 people so easily? The day was truly a must do. An highlight on our trip. Eve, SLC
Very good guides, able to get all the tourist together for the trains and boat rides on time.
This was one of our best experiences during our 21 day stay in Italy! The tour was hosted by Walkabout Florence. The two brothers leading the tour were Italian/American boys and great fun! The tour includes bus, train, and boat (weather permitting) travel, as well as plenty of hiking and an included lunch. Bring a small pack with umbrella/rain jacket and a WATER BOTTLE. Hiking is not difficult, but requires good balance and average good cardio shape. If you are a smoker, or quite overweight, you may want to get healthy before trying this one. The Cinque Terre is absolutely breathtaking, the guides are excellent, the food was wonderful, and the weather cooperated for us. This is a 13-14 hour start to finish experience, so give yourself a full-day in your itinerary, and don't miss out. Booking is also possible through Walkabout, but we were certainly pleased with all tours scheduled through Viator.
Walkabout tour guides, Angel and Freddy, were excellent. The hike was formidable and though my wife had some difficulty, our guide, Angel, stayed back with us and was encouraging and understanding. Plenty of time was left at the end of the trail so we did not lose contact with the group. Lunch which was included was very good and the Cinque Terre towns were interesting to visit. We were lucky enough to get the boat back from Monterosso to Riomaggiore and the views were terrific. I think this was was of the best tours we have been on.
This tour was fantastic! Not only was it everything as advertised - it was well organized and our guides for walkaboutflorence - Beatriz and Alex were phenomenal - The area and hike were gorgeous and lunch was one of the best meals we had on the whole trip! I would definitely fit this tour into your Florence plans - you won't be disappointed.
Tour guides were young, energetic, and very personable. Gave us info about themselves and their connection to Italy, and their love of their country. They made a point to get to meet each person personally. Very informative, knew their stuff. They made the trip.
Freddy and Alex were are tour guides. They were so knowledgeable of the area, giving us history of the towns we passed on our way to Cinque Terre. They made the trip fun and encouraged us as we hiked along the trail. Lunch was so good! My husband and I really enjoyed this tour.
I was willing to leave the group and wonder with my husband on our own. But I have to say, for a 12 hour trip we did a lot, and our guide Barbara was very active and attentive. We left the group in MonteRosso, as the time we had there was short and we prefer to have a coffee and crostatta in a charming Cafe by the beach. The hiking was tough, but amazing. Do it on your path and enjoy the view, Barbara will be in the finish line waiting for you.
Having spent the week in Florence, this is a great way to see the Cinque Terre in one day. The tour guides were awesome, and even took the time on the return bus trip to help everyone with the rest of their stay in Florence (restaurants, sites, etc). The only caution I would give is about the hiking portion - 32C, full sun, and no breeze certainly impacted the difficulty of the hike, but we stilled enjoyed it.
Would highly recommend this tour.
