Our family of 4, highly recommends the WalkAbout Tuscan Farmhouse and Local Market Tour from Florence. It was Amazing!!! Our guide Olivia is excellent and very knowledgeable.
There is a serene feeling and beautiful view overlooking Florence at the Farmhouse. The Chef and staff are very friendly and fun. We actually had a hands on experience of making real homemade pasta, tiramisu and gelato with recipes. Excellent food and tour! Bravo! Ciao.
What an incredible day!
First of all if your a massive foodie this is a must even if your just visiting for a couple of days! What a wonderful idea and such good value for money. We started with a tour of Florence foodie style, visiting key places and spots in Florence that were part of the food heritage of the city, stopped off for a typical Florentine cappuccino and pastry only allowed before 11am then headed on a bus to the most beautiful place above Florence to have a fun-filled stomach filling afternoon making pizza, tagliatelle ragu, tiramisu and a whole lot more.
This class wasn't only forgettable because of the amazing food we made but the fun we had! Carmella although she doesnt speak alot of english is incredible! What a ball of energy, singing as we went through each course with the wonderful Lavi and Valeria translating and giggling away with us all. All the people involved and the friends we made on the day made in such an unforgettable experience. I am sending everyone who goes to Italy your way guys! Best tour.. definite MUST!!!
From start to finish this was a highlight of our trip. Lavi was a great guide. We had so much fun cooking and enjoying what we made. This is a very well organized event and would recommend for anyone who likes to cook. We are anxious to try what we learned here at home.
My mother and I had a wonderful time. It was a fun activity to do in a lovely place in Chianti on a rainy day. Highly recommended for something to do outside the usual tourist spots in the city.
we had a great experience with great people. So much fun. a must do!
Gloria was the greatest host and tour guide. While walking through Florence to the markets to buy the food, she gave a tour of the city that wasn't about the food but other things which was nice. it showed me she has a passion for her work and her amazing beautiful city.
When we got to the markets, she toured us around and showed different things, things we don't see in the USA, like meat shops that cater to special types of meat like the organs. Very interesting for me. Maybe not for everyone, but I was fascinated.
When we got to the olive orchard, Gloria once again was the best. She helped us with our cooking and translated for Claudia. She became like family! I miss her!
This was an awesome experience! I absolutely loved learning to cook the Italian dishes and all the food was delicious. I would highly recommend this tour!
Absolutely awesome, what a blast! This is a must do. If you are really serious about learning to cook Italian, you'll love this. If you just want to have a great time in beautiful locations in and around Florence, you'll also love this. A large team of tour guides/chefs lead you throughout the 7 hours. All are very pleasant and entertaining.
What a great we had with Julian and Martina!! Everything was wonderful! Right from the beginning Julian gave us so many informations about italin food and drinks while we were shopping for the food to be cooked later. We had so much fun!
Thank you, Julian.
The best part of our trip! My friends and I loved it. Valeria, our tour guide, was so nice and knew so much information about Florence. It was worth every penny.
Absolutely the best tour I have been on! It was such a fun day led by amazing tour guide, Elisa. I enjoyed walking through the city hear some inside facts before going to the market to pick up a few items then showing up at the beautiful farmhouse. It was one thing after another that impressed me and was overall, an amazing day! My favorite day in Florence 100! I highly recommend this tour!!!
Fantastic, a really enjoyable day. We were lucky to have Gloria guide us through the streets of Florence to all the various food vendors. Not only did she impart wisdom on the fresh food but also gave us the history of the streets and buildings we were walking through. The farm sits above Florence, wonderful views and the day is completed with the wonderful Carmella teaching us how to cook the proper Tuscan way. No garlic in the ragu!
A brilliant trip! Thanks Julian, Martina and Carmella you were great. The team are really welcoming and easy going which made for a really relaxing environment. Would recommend this trip for anyone interested in food, drink and how it relates to Florence history/culture - was really interesting and fun to get involved in the cooking!
This was a fantastic tour and excellent cooking class. We first had a guided walk through Florence from the meeting point to the market with stops enroute for specific food purchases, then a short drive to the property. Georgeous location and setting. Excellent facilities. Carmela the cook/teacher provided very clear instructions - via our guide's translations - and was very knowledgeable and entertaining. And the food 'we' made was excellent! Would highly recommend this tour.
Whats not to like. Julian, Carmilo and all the crew were amazing. This is a wonderful, informative experience and definitely one not to miss. Best tour in Florence without a doubt and the best value for money ever. If you are in Florence dont miss this one!
These guys are so good I went back and did the tour a second time in 2 weeks!! I took a friend of mine and it was brilliant again. Julien, Sandra and Carmilo not sure of spelling are fantastic. So informative, fun and entertaining. This is definitely the best tour in Florence. Awesome value for money too. PS I took a tour today with another company and they werent a scratch on Walkabout. Do yourself a favour if you are in Florence and dont miss this one. I know you will thank me.
This was an awesome tour. Our guide Elisa was very fun and energetic. The cooking class was amazing from the hands on cooking, to the wine, the scenery, Chief Isak and of course the food. Highly recommend you come very hungry!
We've been to Florence multiple times and this experience was the highlight. This experience brought a unique Tuscan experience - we learned a lot about Tuscan cuisine long before we got to Carmella's beautiful farmhouse. Sandra did an incredible job in not only educating us about the food that we bought at the Central Market, but all her stories about Florentine history. I'm very leery about group tours but if you love history and eating Sandra brings a whole new energy and passion to this tour. And be prepared to work for your lunch. It's very hands-on experience and a full day of fun. Sandra and Carmella make a great team in bringing the food to life - everything from making bruschetta to your own personal pizza yes the dough too not to mention a pasta dish and two different desserts. Oh did I mention that we also made a pork roast with potatoes on top of everything else. Word of caution, DO NOT HAVE BREAKFAST FIRST! In fact, do not make dinner reservations. We promise you will not leave hungry. And if that wasn't enough you couldn't find a more beautiful place to spend the day. The kitchen and the staff were extremely nice and very professional. You may forget that you're not the real chef. It will be one of the best days you have in the Tuscan countryside.

Fantastic Day! Walkabout prepared a perfect cooking excursion. Staff, guides and cooking instructors were professional, interesting, friendly and fun! One of our best days in Tuscany! Highly recommended!
This experience was FANTASTIC - the highlight of my trip!! My guided Lavinia, was extremely friendly, personable and knowledgeable and I very much enjoyed learning about the history of Florence and it's food. It's a genuinely Italian experience!! The estate is stunning and the chef is a riot. I love to cook and this was by far the best cooking class I've taken. I highly highly recommend this tour. Bring your appetites!
Great day out. All the staff are very informative and friendly and keep the day light natured.
A great and Fabulous tour that was recommended by tourists we didn't even know. Such fun walking through the city being introduced to places having to do with cooking and shopping for the food we would be using. Our guides were fantastic Levitanie and Alisa and Carmelia the The cooking Teacher and the pizza makers were great. It is truly a tour not to miss!
Brilliant! Thanks Julian and the team for a wonderful and memorable Florence experience. You guys were great!! Loved it and highly recommend to all travelling to Florence. The best!!!
We loved this tour!! We had been told about from strangers we met in the Amalfi Coast who said it was the best tour they had taken. We changed our plans to be able to take the tour on Friday. 1st off we were told we could store our luggage in the office as we just got off the train. Our tour guides were Livinia and Elisa were the greatest! The photo representing this tour is exactly part of what we did! Pasta making. We didn't expect to get some Florence history along the way... It was a bonus! We hope this is always available as we are have already told other tourists to sign up!!
