My wife and I absolutely devoured our dinner, and couldn't have been happier with our hosts.
This was perfect for our first night in Florence. The group was tired and we just wanted to eat. Our host was Giglio Bianco gastronomic bed and breakfast. They are professional cooks and opened up there home with a feast and personal attention to all of us. It was a experience everyone should do.
Chef Vary is amazing. The food was delicious. It was worth every moment.
Our dinner was fantastic and our hosts were friendly and entertaining - we had a lovely time. I highly recommend this experience as a pleasant (and delicious) break from restaurant dining.
This experience turned out to be a great surprise and was the absolute high point of our vacation in Greece and Italy; I would give it TEN POINTS if I could.
The residence is a small bed and breakfast in a pleasant, largely residential neighborhood in the Otranto (other side of the river) district. It is an easy walk over the Ponte Vecchio from the Uffizi Gallery and a ten or fifteen minute taxi ride from the Florence Centrale train station area (about $10E each way). Patrons tend to dress nicely casual. The dining room seats 10 people or so depending on table ccnfiguration and encourages both intimacy and friendly conversation between tables; it is very nicely decorated with lots of bookcases, antique furnishings, and a marble fireplace with quite a bit of tasteful art on display. The room has high ceilings and tall narrow windows for lighting and ventilation by fresh air that open into a leafy tree canopy on an adjacent property. The preparation and presentation of the gourmet northern Italy food dishes made from local fresh ingredients is imaginative (no pasta or tomato sauce) and so far above typical nice restaurant fare as to beg comparison. The host and chef are most engaging, gracious, and charming...we loved them and their interaction with the guests. The only small hiccup was that there was a miscommunication between them and Viator regarding my wife's dietary preferences which they solved most expeditiously and courteously, e.g., "no problem, don't concern yourselves, tell us what she likes, and we will do it with what we have on hand!!" We were celebrating our tenth wedding anniversary and having dinner here was the perfect way to end our last day in Florence. If you don't take advantage of this reasonably priced experience you will really be missing out on a wonderful dinner in a wonderful setting with wonderful people!
I booked seven tours in 8 days in Italy, and this was by far the BEST decision I made for this trip. Edo and Vary are truly beautiful people and provided a night to my mom and I that I will treasure for life. We met Edo down the road at a local cafe and walked over to the B and B. There were four of us eating there, my mom and I and a recently married couple. The company was excellent as well as the dining room we were in. And then, the FOOD. It was absolutely incredible. Vary started making our meal at 5 AM and it really showed. I regret not getting any photos of the actual food but truthfully, it was because I was too busy enjoying it. This experience is a best kept secret, for sure.
All in all, this was probably one of the best meals I've ever had. 10/10, would do this again. I can't recommend this highly enough.
A wonderful evening with another couple, hosted by the residents in a flat in Florence.
Awesome night out. The food and wine was exceptional as we're the hosts. A must do in Florence
WOW WOW WOW!!!!!! This was a culinary delight, mo9st amazing evening ever! I wish we coudl do it all over again. Food was amazing, our hosts were amazing - everything was just perfect!!!
Best meal we had in Italy! Our host met us promptly at the promised central location and proceeded to take us to his nearby home where we had a spectacular 5-course meal. Simply put, the meal included local ingredients that were crafted into memorable courses from beginning to end. Absolutely the high point of our trip to Florence. Don't miss this opportunity!
The dinner was absolutely wonderful. Vary prepared a gourmet five-course meal that was beautifully presented and tasted incredibly. Eduardo served us and provided us with great insight into the food and Florence in general. I, my wife and daughter, had a wonderful evening. This is a great value in terms of the food and the personal attention in a very pleasant B and B. Five Stars!!!
My favorite - this was excellent! Vary and Eduardo were excellent hosts and their food lived up to all expectations. We arrived early though and questioned the meeting spot - we thought we were lost and tried to call the VIator number only to get a recording saying the office was closed. I give this tour a 5-star, but ask that Viator do something more to help ensure folks who sign up find the meeting place. One couple did not show up for this pre-paid tour: I wonder if they, like us, thought they had the wrong place.
Simply the best. My sister and I were more than pleasantly surprised when we entered the beautiful home of our perfect hosts, Vary and Edo. The tables were perfectly set and we were warmly welcomed and offered the best selection of drinks. We would highly recommend this pleasant dinning experience to anyone who enjoys, fine dining and authentic, hand made Italian food prepared by a top chef with tender loving care. Each of the five courses was a work of art with the ingredients and method of prepartion explained to us in detail. Enjoy your time in Florence.
The hosts were wonderful. I felt very welcomed in their home and the food was absolutley amazing. I had such a good time visiting with the host and the chef. I would definetly reccomned this for a different experience.
