It was OK, but could have been better

In the morning seeing the David was fantastic, and we had a great guide. The afternoon was a complete waste. We spent two hours eating a so-so meal. Taking the bus to Fiesole, then not getting out and being told to take a city bus up on our own later if we wanted to see it was terrible and a rip-off. We had a guide who walked very slowly, and we saw places from the outside and were told we should go into them on our own someday. He waited for us to take photos of the outside of Santa Croce church for a long time. Then we finally went to the Uffizi, and we did not get in until 5 p.m. The guide disappeared and later returned with the tickets after we had let two more groups go ahead of us in line. Once in, we waited again for everyone to go to the bathroom. My boys and I just could not wait any longer for the slow guide and the group. We did not understand the guide's English very well, either. We decided to break off from the group and see the museum on our own because he was so bad. It was a waste of an afternoon in Florence because when it was finally time to see a museum in the late afternoon, we were exhausted and tired of not knowing what and when things would happen.

The morning sightseeing tour of Florence was excellent. The afternoon tour could have been limited to only the museum. The drive outside the city could have been improved with a stop to let us see the Roman ruins.

It was nice to have a guided tour of some of the sites outside the city center. That was the best part of the tour.

The morning tour was great, but the afternoon one was bad. It all depends on the guide you get. That said, avoiding the queues made even the bad tour worthwhile.

We had a group of 20 for a family reunion. We arrived at the designated area 20 minutes ahead of time, but were unable to find the exact point. I called the tour company and told them the situation. They kept saying look for the yellow sign. We still were unable to find it. Finally, one of their representatives walked us to the spot, which was across the street from where we were standing the whole time. All they had to do was tell us the meeting point was in front of a travel agency, that had BIG LETTERS and we would have found it in plenty of time. It was very stressful. They finally gave us a tour guide that rushed us through the AM tour and got us to lunch. The second part of the tour was uneventful and enjoyable.

It was OK. Unfortunately it hailed in Tivoli gardens which was not anyone's fault but did put a damper on the tour. The guide could have left out the tour of the cameo factory, we felt like it was very high priced and maybe not the place to go even though the guide suggested it.

We enjoyed this tour, however, we would have enjoyed it more if we had not done the full day tour. It would have been better if we broke up the morning and afternoon tours on different days as I found my feet were extremely sore by the time we were half way through the afternoon. Don't do this tour if you don't want to do the whole museum thing.

Unless you are really into art, don't bother with the afternoon tour.

It was nice to get a perspective on the city's history. The guide was very pleasant. The morning tour included a light lunch of pasta at a local restaurant. I think I would have preferred taking the full day as opposed to just the morning.

Our tour was on a Monday when the museums were closed, hence the tour was substituted with a trip on the Hop on Hop off bus tour. This was good, but not what we were looking for. Had we known this, we wouldn't have booked the tour for this day.

Reviewed by: Anonymous, Australia, September 2006 Note from Viator: As our website states, for reasons outside of our control there are the following restrictions. 1) The cathedral cannot be visited on Sundays and National holidays. 2)The Galleria dell Accademia is closed on Monday. This is replaced with a visit to the Bargello Museum or the Medici Chapels. 3) The Galleria degli Uffizi is closed on Monday and will be replaced with a visit to the Museum of Palazzo Vecchio.

I loved Florence. The morning Viator city tour was very good.

We did not take this tour because we had booked it on a Monday. NEVER book this tour on a Monday as all the important museums are closed. You will see no Michelangelo's or Botticelli's. I'm sure it is a fine tour - but don't book on a Monday. We traded it for Sienna and San Gimigiana which were great!!

After doing the hop on hop off bus, I felt the full day trip was a waste of time as it covered all of the same areas. I would have been better purchasing the advance tickets to the galleries and doing the audio tour myself.

Great difficulty finding tour start point. Viator sub contracts out to local tour companies and you do not know the name of the local tour company.

Too much walking, and not widely known before the tour, so beware you will walk the entire city. We had gone in the Duomo ourselves earlier in the week; the guide never took the group inside. Not a good guide; we couldn't hear her.
