It was OK, but could have been better

It was OK. Unfortunately it hailed in Tivoli gardens which was not anyone's fault but did put a damper on the tour. The guide could have left out the tour of the cameo factory, we felt like it was very high priced and maybe not the place to go even though the guide suggested it.

We enjoyed this tour, however, we would have enjoyed it more if we had not done the full day tour. It would have been better if we broke up the morning and afternoon tours on different days as I found my feet were extremely sore by the time we were half way through the afternoon. Don't do this tour if you don't want to do the whole museum thing.

Unless you are really into art, don't bother with the afternoon tour.

It was nice to get a perspective on the city's history. The guide was very pleasant. The morning tour included a light lunch of pasta at a local restaurant. I think I would have preferred taking the full day as opposed to just the morning.

Our tour was on a Monday when the museums were closed, hence the tour was substituted with a trip on the Hop on Hop off bus tour. This was good, but not what we were looking for. Had we known this, we wouldn't have booked the tour for this day.

Reviewed by: Anonymous, Australia, September 2006 Note from Viator: As our website states, for reasons outside of our control there are the following restrictions. 1) The cathedral cannot be visited on Sundays and National holidays. 2)The Galleria dell Accademia is closed on Monday. This is replaced with a visit to the Bargello Museum or the Medici Chapels. 3) The Galleria degli Uffizi is closed on Monday and will be replaced with a visit to the Museum of Palazzo Vecchio.

I loved Florence. The morning Viator city tour was very good.

We did not take this tour because we had booked it on a Monday. NEVER book this tour on a Monday as all the important museums are closed. You will see no Michelangelo's or Botticelli's. I'm sure it is a fine tour - but don't book on a Monday. We traded it for Sienna and San Gimigiana which were great!!

After doing the hop on hop off bus, I felt the full day trip was a waste of time as it covered all of the same areas. I would have been better purchasing the advance tickets to the galleries and doing the audio tour myself.

Great difficulty finding tour start point. Viator sub contracts out to local tour companies and you do not know the name of the local tour company.

Too much walking, and not widely known before the tour, so beware you will walk the entire city. We had gone in the Duomo ourselves earlier in the week; the guide never took the group inside. Not a good guide; we couldn't hear her.

The woman who led this was unpleasant, uninteresting and extremely negative in her remarks to the group about the lousy weather of Florence, the ugly buildings etc. I was shocked that she was allowed to hold this type of position.

The morning tour was pretty good but the afternoon tour was really long and the guide did not speak perfect English and the museum tour was way too long. Lunch was delightful though.

The tour guide spoke broken English and was also difficult to hear and understand.

The morning tour started off well, and our guide was instructive and entertaining. However, as the tour went on she began to lecture at length, and by the time we arrived at the Accademia we only had time to visit the first gallery. After five minutes viewing "David" we were told that we would have to leave if we were booked for lunch. Not satisfactory!

The lunch was fine and we headed for the afternoon tour. Here we had an English-speaking guide and another who presented in Spanish and French so everything took too long, and by the time we arrived at the Uffizi there was a long queue. After 30 minutes a number of us gave up waiting since the queue was not moving and we were not going to have a decent amount of time to view the splendours of the Uffizi. This was a real disappointment as my main reason for going to Florence was to spend time in these two galleries.

As a committed Viator customer I was quite disappointed by the Florence City Sightseeing tour. Unlike the other excursions I arranged through them, this trip was very much an armchair excursion. We went by most places but not in. The afternoon tour guide had a grating voice and nearly put me to sleep. The highlight was entrance to the Uffizi and the Academia but I'd recommend just to make reservations straight away for those and skipping this part of the tour. Florence is small and charming. For what you pay to go round on the bus, you'd do better to use for entrance fees to the many places they take you by.
