What You Can Expect
After about an hour of meandering through picturesque villages and alongside poppy-filled fields, take a break at a country estate. Dishes change depending on the season, but expect a platter of local delicacies such as bruschetta, pecorino cheese, ham, salami, salad, fresh vegetables and more. Sip on a glass of wine or water, and finish with dessert and a coffee.
Then, follow your guide along the quiet Tuscan roads, passing olive groves and swathes of woodland, as you make your way back to Florence. Along the way, enjoy stops at vantage points, little-known gems and famous landmarks to take photos, and chat with your guide about Florence’s sights and history.
Stop at the Church of San Miniato al Monte and Piazzale Michelangelo for breathtaking views over Florence, and then work your way through Florence’s Santa Croce neighborhood to see Piazza Signoria and swoon over the Ponte Vecchio — the city’s most famous bridge. Take a brief look at the lesser-visited side of the River Arno, and pass alongside Pitti Palace to discover the Oltrarno neighborhood, where bohemian shops, cafes and artisan studios line the streets.
Return back to Florence’s centro storico (historical heart) on the other side of the water, and see a cluster of big-name sights including Santa Maria Novella Church and Florence Duomo. See Orsanmichele, a church built on the site of the corn exchange, and then weave through the streets of ‘Dante’s quarter’— where the Florentine poet Dante Alighieri once lived—before stopping at a beloved local gelato shop.
Finish your tour on a high note with a gelato as you chat with your guide and group, and then drop your bike off at the start point in central Florence.
