Renaissance Florence Walking Tour

Admire Florence's Renaissance architecture and monuments on a walking tour

Your 2.5-hour walking tour will begin in central Florence, where you’ll join up with your guide to explore some of world’s greatest architectural and artistic masterpieces. Your guide will discuss in detail how Florence became the ‘cradle of the Renaissance’ as you walk. Learn about the patronage of the Medici family, Leonardo da Vinci’s plans for the city and scandalous events in Florentine history.

Travel first through Piazza della Signoria, a popular hub of activity that hosts the Palazzo Vecchio, an open-air sculpture display and shops and cafes. Continue to the site of the Baptistery, Giotto’s Bell Tower and the iconic Duomo, featuring Brunelleschi's Dome.
Afterward, pause for a tasting of a regional delicacy at a local eatery, before heading to the churches of Orsanmichele and St Trinita. Follow your guide to the Arno River for views of the Ponte Vecchio.

Cross the river into the charming Oltrarno district. Explore the streets and squares stirring with markets and craft shops and then return to your original departure point, where your tour will conclude.

this was a really good tour by someone who lives and breathes Florentine history. We did this tour on day one, and it gave us the perfect introduction to the city, and helped us to orientate ourselves ready for the rest of the stay. Highly recommended for anyone just arrived in Florence.

Very enjoyable. I would recommend making this your first tour in florence. You really get to learn about the city and see everything there is to see, and the following day, or later in the day, you can visit the sites that you enjoyed. (Tour does not go into any of the buildings, except one church, which may not have even been officially part of the tour).

I wish we would have done this tour earlier in our stay in Florence. Our guide had great stories and pointed out areas to go back to after the tour. She also took us down some of the streets we would have missed otherwise. Fortunately we were in Florence for 3 weeks and were able to go back to those areas. She was also right that the best gelato was the little shop across from the Pitti Palace. Don't pass up this tour.
