What You Can Expect

Skip the Line: Florence Uffizi Gallery Tour

See works by masters such as Botticelli on this skip-the-line Uffizi tour

Meet your guide near the Uffizi Gallery in central Florence, and avoid the long main entrance lines as you head straight inside with your skip-the-line ticket. Famed the world over, this extraordinary museum is home to more than 1,500 pieces of artwork displayed in some 45 rooms, and on this 1.5-hour tour, your guide will introduce you to the highlights.

Designed by Giorgio Vasari, the history of the vast Uffizi Gallery is as interesting as the works it contains. Originally intended to house Florence’s judiciary offices, the palace was filled with art by the city's wealthy Medici family, who governed from behind the scenes. After the Medici fell from grace in the 18th century, the palace was opened to the public and has remained popular ever since.

While the Uffizi Gallery is home to artworks dating back to the days of the ancient Greeks, its main claim to fame is its Renaissance paintings, and your guide will walk you through the most interesting galleries. Admire early Renaissance treasures by Giotto, and stroll through halls dedicated to Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio and Raphael, all regarded as masters of their time.

Learn about famous works such as da Vinci’s Annunciation, Michelangelo’s Doni Tondo and Titian’s Venus of Urbino, and then explore the upper level of the gallery, home to many masterpieces by Caravaggio.

Your tour ends inside the museum, leaving you free to continue exploring as you wish, perhaps to re-visit your favorite works or view more paintings, until the closing time. Alternatively, leave the museum when your tour ends or visit its rooftop café to relax over snacks and drinks (both at your own expense) and take in its stellar views over the city.
