My mother and I did a tour of the Uffizi gallery in August this year with Viator. The queue for the gallery tickets was at least 2 hours long and there were about 500 people waiting to go in. We, however, met our guide precisely as arranged without any problems, the meeting instructions were easy to follow; we walked right past the queue and had a superb tour of the gallery. We were pleasantly surprised to find that although the tour information says there can be up to 20 people on the tour, on this day there was only my mother and myself. We had a personal tour for just the 2 of us, but the company still ran the tour for the same price, and didn't change the date or cancel the tour because of the lack of numbers. Our guide was intelligent, articulate, and well prepared with lots of information. She had studied art history at the gallery itself, and was very familiar with the paintings, pointing out things we would never have noticed otherwise. Both my mother and myself are reasonably familiar with Renaissance art and our guide tailored her tour to our level of knowledge, interspersed with bits of "gossip" as she called it about the renaissance painters and their clients which was fun too. Even though we asked lots of questions we never managed to plumb the bottom of her knowledge, and she always had more for us if we wanted it. She covered a big range of topics about the painters, the clients who commissioned them and the intricacies of their families, the artistic development of the Renaissance, the techniques, the symbolism and the significance of the paintings themselves without ever becoming high brow and unintelligible. The pace of the tour was just right: we had plenty of time to absorb the pictures before going on to the next despite some crowding, and we covered all the significant Renaissance pictures in the gallery. This tour was the highlight of our trip to Florence, and next time I am bringing my husband to do another tour! Well done Viator.

Our tour guide was fantastic. She was very knowledgable and informative. The museum has so much to see and our guide had so much to say that we actually ran out of time to see the whole museum. Our group was mixed with another group, but with the microphone system this was not an issue.

Booking ahead was the BEST idea. Though we probably wouldn't have had long to wait to get in at this time of year and there weren't any bus tours at the time, one is never sure that that would be the case every time. And the best part was that we had a very informed and informative tour guide who was easy to understand and clear and open to lots of questions and humourous also. I would recommend Viator's gallery tour to anyone anytime. Thank you.

Our guide gave us the most in-depth appreciation of the history and religious and philosophical meanings of the artworks and of Florentine history. Highly recommended! We wanted to book her for a whole day if that had been possible!

The tour was very interesting as it gives background and context to the paintings, so that even those who are not that much into art, appreciate the works of art. One suggestion though would be to spend slightly less time on each painting so that there is more time left for the individual to have a quick look around the gallery on his own.

While the tour was short in length for the amount of wonderful things to see, our tour guide made the most of the time and was informative and enthusiastic. It helped give us a basis for looking forward to returning on our own to spend more time. We loved it and can't wait to return on our own to spend the entire day.

Totally worth every penny. I only wish we had taken a longer tour. Our guide was exceptional; his knowledge and enthusiasm were contagious. Looking forward to another trip with Viator.

Well worth booking in advance, guide was excellent. Went at 4.30 p.m. and gallery closed at 6.30 p.m. so did not have much free time after tour.
