I booked the food tour before arriving in Italy and boy was I happy we did!! We went to multiple places in Florence, even some that weren't on the itinerary. Our tour guide Benedetta was very informative, passionate and personable!! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone toying with the idea! They offer a great variety of food: espresso, truffles, oil and vinegar, pastries, cheeses and the best part, gelato! You definitely get what you pay for and you don't leave hungry! You will not be disappointed by this tour!
Wonderful tour with our guide Federica. She was informative and passionate about local food and Florence. The tour started with coffee where we learnt many new things and tasted typical Italian coffee. The market was a great highlight of the tour with great samples and entertaining conversation.
The Florence Food Tour was absolutely wonderful. Our guide was so nice and personable. We tried Espresso, pastries/sweets, olive oil, cheese, wine, prosciutto etc. and the lady at the market stall that managed that part of the food tasting was so nice and knowledgeable, we then went on to have so many more yummy food treats. It was an absolutely wonderful time and I would high recommend this tour to anyone visiting Florence!!
This is a very enjoyable tour. The organization was excellent, the guide Federika did a great job and the experts who told us about the different food items really knew their stuff! The variety of foods was very good, from gelato to coffee, oils and vinegars, pastries, cheeses and even truffles. It was a real pleasure to explore this side of Florence with people from other parts of the world who are interested in food. Highly recommended. Thank you.
Great tour, very informative. We enjoyed every part of this amazing tour.
One of the best tours we took. The diversity of places and food was magnificent. From espresso, to wine, to chocolate to biscotti and vin santo. A marvelous and filling 3 hours
Absolutely incredible!! More food to try than i could truly eat and only required a very late dinner after. Skipped breakfast per previous reviews glad I did. The tour company is amazing and very accomodating (I had made a mistake with my dates and this company accomodated me on a different day). The small tour size means more attention by our guide for all of our questions and history lessons on our tour.
Benedetta was excellent. You get a lot of food on this tour: coffee, chocolate, antipasti, wine, pasta, bread and olive oil, truffle spread, balsamic vinegar, and of course gelato. Would definitely recommend.
This was great, informative with yummy food what a combination, plus took us round the back streets and to the market. We had great fun.
Thanks to our tour guide Coral (who was a 'gem' of a tour guide), we couldn't have been more thrilled when it turned out the 3 of us had a PRIVATE tour that day. This allowed Coral to 'customize' our tour even more... like spending more time at the coffee shop as my husband is a coffee drinker. And when we found out this shop carried the famous/rare/expensive Kopi Luwak coffee, we bought a cup for us all to try (we got it ½ price due to being on this tour, so 5E). Look this up if you don’t know how the coffee beans are collected (you’ll be shocked!). Coral was extremely in tune to everything said and always went out of her way to accommodate us: example? My husband loves to share this line, “I’m a ‘sea” food’ expert… I ‘see’ food and eat it!”. She knew we all liked sea food so when we got to the San Lorenzo market for the included lunch, she came back with a sea food dish which was outstanding!! If you want to ‘eat your way thru Florence…taste and drink all the local specialties’, this is the perfect tour to take.
Meet at the designated point and meet the rest of the group, and the guide and set off, the first stop was a really cool coffee shop, they take there coffee very seriously here, the owner of the shop gave us a real insight to the different types of beans and roasting, this was a lovely start to the day and we bought even bought the cutest little coffee Percolator, it is bright orange! From there we walked through the city and went to a tiny little shop that sold all things truffle, OMG! The little truffle spread sandwich was amazing.
The food market was next, and we tasted Cheese, wine, olive oil and balsamic this was wonderful, the wine and food was really good, we also looked at all the fresh food, the meat looked amazing. We then went to a local eatery in the market and ate a traditional dish, which was very tasty. Next was a bakery to taste some local fresh bread, it was sort of crusty and salty, we also tasted a liqueur and biscotti type of biscuit. And to finish....gelato! I must say that the Italians really know how to make this icy treat, it is addictive, so good. This was a lovely tour, and I would recommend it if you have the time. A couple of tips, take a map with you to ensure you can find your way back to you accommodation, wear good shoes as you will be walking on cobble stones. The market has a amazing restuarant/eatery up on the second level so if your hungry after the tour, make your way back upstairs and enjoy.
This tour was amazing, didn't want it to end! Saw so much and got to sample so much food didn't feel like dinner that night! Valentina was an amazing tour guide, lots of fun and very knowledgeable. All the places we were taken were very welcoming and there was no pressure to buy anything.
Excellent and informative tour. don' eat breakfast and you will not need lunch either.
We took this tour in June 2014. There were seven of us (4 adult, 3 teen girls). We were joined by another couple, so a total of 9 in our tour group. This tour was FANTASTIC!!! We stopped at an espresso bar, wine bar (enoteca), truffle shop, the central market to taste bread, our choice of pastas, and a wine/olive oil/balsamic tasting. We ended at an amazing gelato shop. We learned so much at each stop and had plenty of items to taste. Our guide - Frederica - was very knowledgeable and knew all of the shop keepers. She helped us with other questions we had about Florence as well. We were not rushed and could enjoy each stop. The best part of this tour was that they accommodated by husband's diet (lactose intolerant along with several other allergies). I would take this tour again and would recommend to anyone!
