My friend and I attended this tour in late September. We woke up late, the van already left, so we took a cab to the first stop at Poppiano Castle. Chris, our guide, kindly brought us inside and we started on this wonderful day of tasting delicious wines, cheeses, olive oils, and of course the lovely family-styled lunch with endless food.
Chris was amazingly entertaining and knowledgeable, but most importantly passionate about good wine and food, his family, and connecting with people. I dropped and cracked my phone screen, he took the trouble to check with his dad about where to go for fix - his dad the next day personally took me to the shop and negotiated a good rate for me.
We loved the quieter small group. This tour in the beautiful rolling hills of Tuscany, with endless glasses of Chianti and foods and the most amazing tour guide was definitely a highlight for us in Italy.
Also, even though people say Chris look like Ben Affleck, we think he's much better looking than Ben :)
My husband and I went to Italy a few weeks back. And this was our favorite day of the whole trip. Our tour guide Chris was amazing-he knows so much and was enthusiastic about Tuscany and of course- wine! Each stop was different and we learned so much!! Perfect day! Do it!
Great trip. Luca was a great host / guide with a wealth of knowledge about local history, wine and cheese. Highly recommend for a day away from the madding crowds in Florence.
My husband and I had a wonderful day on this tour. Our guide, Luca was excellent. He gave an interesting historical overview on Florence, Tuscany, Chianti wines and olive oils. The 2 beautiful vineyards we
visited were amazing. We both learned so much about the wines, olive oils and wine tasting. We had delicious pecorino cheeses and focaccia for a snack while seeing beautiful Tuscan countryside. Our lunch at La Cantinetta di Rignara was fabulous. We had a variety of tasty local homemade dishes. The wines served were yummy, too. We would love to take this tour again. Considering the cost and challenge of driving and gas ($9.35) in this area, we both felt the cost of the tour with the lunch, snack, wine tastings, tour guide and driver was very reasonable.
Absolutely LOVED Luca. I learned a lot and had a wonderful time doing it. The wines were excellent, the food was great. Beautiful countryside. Beautiful and interesting wineries.
Beautiful land, tasty wine and food and a wonderful guide named Chris.Definitely recommended.
Stephano was fantastic, as was the tour and all the food. Would recommend to anyone
Tour was great and guide was extremely helpful. Lunch was more than you could eat and the wine was plentiful.
8 Hours of learning, eating and wine tasting. Throw in surreal Tuscany and what you have is a memory for a lifetime..Our tour guide entertained for every second of this tour..If you do one tour in Italy do this one..WHAT A VALUE...
Excellent Tour! I highly recommend this one. If you really want to learn about the Chianti wines and the region, this is the perfect tour. Both wineries were excellent as were the tastings and the Olive Oil tastings as well. Lunch was absolutely delicious at this small Tuscan Country restaurant. Everything about this tour was wonderful including the cheese tastings and visit to Greve-in-Chianti. Our tour guide Luca was very knowledgeable and terrific. In spite of the rainy day, he made the tour enjoyable. My fiance and I were very happy to have booked this. It's also very intimate as they provide the tour using mini bus as opposed to a large coach bus. So seating is limited which is very nice. You won't be disappointed.
This tour was fantastic! Luca was a fount of information and made the trip really great. The wineries were each different and the tours of each were great as well. Even though the weather did not cooperate, the trip was still great. The lunch was exquisite with a wine pairing for each course, which was fun. I would do this tour again in a heart beat.
Great tour! More people should do this - get out of the crowds and heat of Florence to spend a day in the Tuscan countryside visiting interesting places, tasting wonderful wines, and eating delicious food from the local producers. Chirs was a super guide and he was very friendly and knowledgable. The minibus allowed us to reach places and travel roads inaccessible by the big coaches. Take this tour!
The driver was competent, the guide (Luca) knowledgeable and engaging, the wines, olive oils, cheeses and lunch delicious, but the star of the show was the Tuscan countryside, simply breathtaking. Put this tour on your "Bucket List" is it that good.
Really enjoyed the comfortable bus ride through the beautiful Chianti wine country. Chris was a fantastic guide, very polite, informative, approachable, and friendly. Enjoyed the small group experience - nice to socialize a bit with other travelers with similar interests.
Three years ago we did the all day Tuscany tour with the same operator as this tour. It was the highlight of our European trip. For our last visit and this was by far our favorite day. You really go to like 3 wineries plus a nice lunch and Greve. I don't want to ruin surprises but you'll have a full day of culinary experiences. Definitely a must do.
