What You Can Expect
Tuscany Towns and Chianti Wine-Tasting Trip from Florence
Next, it’s on to the Siena Duomo, widely considered Italy's most impressive Gothic cathedral. Full of treasures, the Duomo is as impressive inside as it is outside, and your guide will point out its unique marble panels and pavement mosaics as you walk around.
From Siena, head west into Tuscany's Chianti Classico area, the country's most significant wine-producing region to visit the Machiavelli Estate. Built nearly 500 years ago, the estate was once home to the great Renaissance philosopher Niccolò Machiavelli; hear about his life in Chianti from your guide. Tour the house museum and wine cellar before lunch on the estate.
Your meal starts with a tasting of three locally-produced, "Gallo Nero" Chianti Classico wines followed by an assortment of Tuscan specialties. Enjoy mixed crostini before an array of typical Tuscan delicacies --perhaps penne with wild boar sauce or risotto cooked in spumante wine.
Last stop is Pisa, where you’ll take the town's mini-train to Piazza dei Miracoli and have time to sightsee independently before returning to Florence. If you want to go up the Leaning Tower of Pisa, make the most of your day in Tuscany by upgrading your tour to include a skip-the-line entrance ticket.

This tour was simply wonderful through and through. Our guide was just fantastic, and his enthusiasm for the details of Tuscany history was contagious. We had a fabulous guide in Siena, who enthralled us with so many fascinating tidbits about the history of this wonderful city. The visit to Machiavelli's estate, along with the wine-tasting and accompanying delicious lunch, was a true highlight of this tour. This was truly a wonderful tour that was worth every penny of the fee. To see this much of Tuscany in twelve hours was quite a feat, and we loved it.
