One of the best tours I have ever experienced. Me and my husband did the Eltz Castle tour on Sept 29 with the local tour operator via Viator. Our tour guide Peter Remus was very friendly, kind and knowledgeable. He toured us from Frankfurt to the Eltz Castle and around the beautiful surrounding areas. Excellent tour! Highly recommended. Peter, keep up the good work Lani and Chris
Amazing tour by private limo for only 3 of us, attentive driver,, the castle is a knights residence castle still owned by the 38 thh generation family, filled with medieval treasures a sight not to be missed, still fully preserved we went through all the rooms climbing up spiral sraicases, just loved the casrle.
, then drove along the beautiful river moselle and at the point where it meets the rhine, we crossed by ferry and had a wonderful dinner along the rhine, wonderful day
Overall the tour was great, good to see a castle in original state, dinner ordinary and can be improved.
Absolutely fabulous experience and a most discerning tour guide as well as a tour company that went ahead with the tour even on a day with just the two of us on tour. We had a private car to ourselves and the tour guide went out of his way to show us two other castles plus some wine tasting !!
The Eltz castle is a very interesting destination. We would be better to spent more time on Rhine Valley in the afternoon.
The day trip to Berg Eltz castle with Rhine dinner was very nice. There were only 3 of us taking the tour so our tour guide used his own car which made it very comfortable and personal. The 90 minutes at the castle was enough to take the tour and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. Our dinner at a restaurant on the Rhine was very good. I would recommend this tour to see this amazing castle and enjoy dinner on the Rhine. It was a perfect day.
The day trip was excellent and the guide great this castle is probably the highlight of the castles we visited as it is mainly in its original state. a bonus was the little town on the Moselle where we had lunch had a local food festival in action which added to the colour of the day
The guide, Peter R, did a nice job of explaining the history, wine and beer industry, scenes etc. He drove a little fast for our American comfort, but perhaps that is the German way. The castle was impressive. Make sure you take the hiking path a scenic walk through the forest, turn a corner and suddenly the castle comes into view. We spent perhaps 1 1/2 hours on the guided tour plus some free time in the castle. The dinner included in the trip was underwhelming...the soup was great but downhill from there. A stereotypical German dinner of too much grease and not enough flavor.
The castle was wonderful. However, there were several problems with the tour. Instead of a luxury air-conditioned coach, four of us plus the driver were crammed into a car, with my adult daughter sitting in the middle of the back seat, which had a large hump running through the floor, for a 1-1/2 hour ride on a tour for which we paid over 200 apiece. Secondly, it turned out that one of the people in the car was not supposed to be on that tour. About half an hour out of the city she asked if this was the city tour. The driver berated her for not realizing sooner that it was the wrong tour, said it was too late to turn around and that she would have to pay the difference in price, about 200 euros, in cash, which she said she did not have with her. I pointed out that it was his responsibility to have checked the tickets and my daughter suggested that we take the woman to the airport, which we had just passed, where she could get the train back to the city. That is what we did, although the driver continued to complain about how inconvenient this was. The last straw was when we arrived at the restaurant for dinner. Both my daughter and I and the other woman on the tour had done a Rhine River cruise that included dinner earlier in the week, and we both had asked before we booked both tours whether the dinners would be at different places. We had been assured that they would be. However, we went to the same restaurant. To make matters worse, the first dinner was roasted chicken with french fries, not exactly a German delicacy, and the second was pork schnitzel, somewhat more German, but still with french fries. I would describe either as the German delicacies referred to in the tour description. The driver contacted his manager, who claimed not to know anything about it and refused to pay for us to go to a different restaurant. I have done many tours with Viator, but if this had been my first Viator experience I probably would not book through you again.
