What You Can Expect

Skip-the-Line: Neuschwanstein Castle Tour from Fuessen Including Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride

See Hohenschwangau Castle on your half-day trip!

This royal palace adventure begins at Füssen station. Meet and greet the tour guide and hop on board the luxury coach. It’s a quick 10-minute drive to Neuschwanstein Castle.

The highlight of the tour is Neuschwanstein Castle, a 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace nestled on top of a rugged hill high above the village of Hohenschwangau, near Füssen, in southwest Bavaria. This stunning fairy tale palace was the inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle and it’s one of the most popular of all the castles or palaces in Europe, drawing 1.4 million visitors each year.

Skip the typically long lines to get inside and enjoy a walking tour of this medieval masterpiece. Explore rooms like Minstrel’s Hall, the Byzantine Throne Room and many more. Learn about the castle’s architect, King Ludwig II of Bavaria, and explore the terraces, grounds and gardens outside as well.

After the tour, enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride down to the village of Hohenschwangau. Take a walk around beautiful Lake Alpsee and grab something to eat for lunch (own expense) if desired.

The tour ends with a brief trip back to Füssen station.

Absolutely recommend this as a way to see Neushwanstein castle. We did not want to take a day tour as we were able to drive from Munich in our rental so did not need picked up. We met at the tour office and were greeted quickly and warmly. Amir, our tour guide, was fantastic. Very friendly and talked us through what we were seeing around the small town and the castle. We were handed off to a tour guide for the castle and were met promptly when we exited to continue our tour. Great experience and the group loved it. Thank you!!

Great sights, wonderful time. However the Horse-Drawn carriage part didn't happen because of long lines waiting for them and the schedule didn't permit it. That was disappointing.

It was a very enjoyable tour! Is definitely worth taking to avoid the long lines. Our guide, Florian, really took care of our group and was a lot of fun!

The lines to get tickets are massive and very limited. If you go during high season, you have to take this tour, or one like it. Forget trying to go on your own. The castle itself is impressive, but smaller inside than you will expect due to it never having been completed. I would strongly recommend taking this tour as part of a combination with other Castles, but if you only want to see neuschwanstein, this is a necessary option. If you go off season, just skip this tour. On season, it is a MUST. Or you just can't get in.

The tour was well organized and Astrid was a knowledgeable and pleasant guide. She took advantage of available services such as the shuttle up to the town at the base of the castle and the shuttle from there to the Castle. She shared quite a bit of interesting information on Ludwig and the castle and got us to our 10:30am tour right on time. We enjoyed the tour very glad we took the time to visit Neuschwanstein. I'm not surprised it is one of Germany's biggest attractions.
