Read what other Viator.com travelers think about the Half-Day Trip to Chamonix and Mont Blanc from Geneva. What they loved, what they liked and what they think could be improved, it's all here to help you make the most of your next trip.
It is worth the visit, 20 minutes ride on the cable car to over 3000m on Mont Blanc, scenery you thought you can only see in pictures. But be prepared to feel dizzy and out-of-breath. Return trip on cable car may force you to stay up for an hour or two up there. Previous complaints about unable to find the bus to return to Geneva, is no longer a problem, as the tour has obviously seen the comment and have been very informative about it.
Excellent trip! I was a little hesitatnt on the price, but was well worth the money!
I ended up paying a little more money to come back on the later bus and spent to day in provence. Was a great day, the tour guide was helpful, friendly and fully of knowledge. Would reccomend to friends.
First off, the half day trip really isn't a 'tour'. It's just transportation from Geneva to Chamonix on a mini-shuttle bus, drop off with tickets to Telepherique, and then return transport on the bus with everyone who took the full day tour that departed earlier. That said, a visit to the CHX and the top of Mt. Blanc is simply stunning and this is a simple way to do it. If you want a 'tour', take the earlier trip so you can have guided tour comments on the drive out. Don't forget your passport and Euros.
FANTASTIC BUT WE (ME AND OTHERS)HAD ONE PROBLEM AND THAT WAS LOCATING THE BUS STOP FOR RETURNING TO GENEVA
The mountains are fabulous and the views beautiful. The trip allows enough time to visit the village.
Beautiful French countryside and seeing the top of the Alps was incredible. Very independent. Tiring but worth it.
Three of us went together on this trip and thoroughly enjoyed the scenery, the town of Chamonix and the cable car experience. The views from the top were amazing! It was bitterly cold at the top so we were glad we had taken extra clothing with us! We had plenty time to eat in Chamonix and explore the area. The only downside was the fact that you did not have a dedicated tour guide and you travelled there on a small bus and returned on a much larger one which departed from a different area. We had to ask a number of people on the streets for directions to the bus as the directions the tour guide had provided were inadequate. This was a trip well worth doing though.
The secenery was beautiful. I was dissappointed with the driver who took us to Chamonix. He did not tell us anything about the area on route to Chamonix. We could not ascend Mount Blanc as all cablecars were closed due to bad weather. It was still beautiful in Chamonix.
Quite good tour and very scenic. I wish they could have given little bit more time to spend in Chamonix town.
The trip was great! Loved the whole experience. However the guide (according to a handful of people and me) was quite unpleasant and bitter....The rip was supposed to be 7h but was 5h and 30min...I wish I had time to have lunch in Chamonix. It is a 5 star experience but the guide took away from experience....
The tour is great and we enjoyed it very muh. However, I will give it 3 stars only because to the local French guide in Chamonix. He did not accompany the group anywhere and gave very poor instructions about getting to the tour bus for the return journey. We were able to return to the bus in time because we have extensive travel experience. When one tourist was late, the guide was extremely rude and was disgusted that people from some parts of the world didn't know how to read a map. I have never come across such a tour guide and hope to never do in the future.
