What You Can Expect

Granada Gourmet Food and Wine Sampling

Granada Delicatessen Food and Wine Sampling

Meet your host in Al Sur de Granada – a legendary little delicatessen and wine bar in the heart of the city, close to the Puerta de Elvira (Arc of Elvira). Much loved by locals and visitors alike, the cozy bar is somewhat of an institution in Granada, selling specialty produce from around the Granada Province.

Sit down with fellow foodies in your group and learn about the rich culinary heritage of Granada while sampling different dishes. With its varied terrain and climate, the area yields an abundance of high quality olives, nuts, fruits and fine wines. The southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain range are renowned for their produce of outstanding cured meats, sausages and cheeses, and the region’s Arab heritage is evident in the use of spices in many local dishes.

As you hear tales about the complexity of Andalusian cuisine, sample three different plates of gourmet produce. The dishes will vary according to seasonality, but you can expect to savor cuts of cured meats, sausages, cheese, pâtés and preserved vegetables – each paired with local wine.

After the tasting session, you can stay in the bar to enjoy further drinks or tapas (own expense) or head out to discover Granada by night independently!

Delicious tasting. My boyfriend and I got this as a pre-dinner treat, but liked the pairings, quality and quiet environment so much that decided to stay there for tea. Don't get me wrong, it's not a place to have a 3-course dinner, but they have a great offer of salads, sandwiches and omelets. The tasting itself was very interesting, including wine for the higher winery in Spain. I've done wine tastings before and I can say this was a good one. I'd recommend to any foodies that enjoy trying local products.

The wine was very good. It was great to try wine from the local area, especially drinking quality wine that is not produced in vast quantities. The wine was varied and very good for tasting as the flavours developed in your mouth. The food was well paired and is all locally sourced, showing te amazing cuisine available in the South of Spain. The host was knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. I would recommend this tour, although it might be hard to stop yourself buying more of the wine and food after the tasting is over!
