Excellent, breathtaking. The flight over the Grand Canyon makes one realise how insignificant man really is. Will repeat the experience if possible one day.
The Canyon is fanstatic, huge, awe-inspiring and is vastness is really appreciated on this flight. High winds when we went so the ride was a bit bumpy. We could have done with better directions to the correct terminal building at Tusyan airport, we asking at the Papillon desk first, who directed across the airport to the correct check in desk. Overall a memorable experience and worth the expense.
This was a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend Maverick Aviation for anyone thinking of taking a flight over the Grand Canyon.
Great trip. The best way to really understand the size of the canyon. The two rear middle seats are not as good for viewing.
We were in the US for nearly a month and this was definitely the highlight of the trip. The Maverick helicopter company did a fantastic job and the flight over the Grand Canyon was something that we could all recommend to everyone.
We also bought the DVD images and were very pleased with the fact it was our tour with our comments and the pilot had made sure to capture the images.
I can't recommend this experience highly enough. A must if you are going to the South rim.
Brilliant trip. Our pilot was friendly, helpful and informative. Great weather, breathtaking views. Highly recommended
We had signed up for the 45 min tour, but due to weather conditions we ended up on the 25 minute tour...a must do for anyone going to the Grand Canyon...the pilot was great and the office gave us back the difference between the two tours without any hassle.
brilliant. Well organised by Maverick. Pilot was very knowledgable. Smooth flight (1st time in helicopter). Glad we chose the longer flight.
We absolutely enjoyed our helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon. Our pilot, Eric, was very courteous, knowledgeable, informative and provided us with great views and a tremendous flight experience. Everyone at the base center was very pleasant and helpful. We would recommend to everyone.
This helicopter company is more personal than other companies I have flown and they fly superb helicopters. Also the pilot is very informative about what he‘s letting you see, which is very pleasant, because you don’t know what you will see on your tour and he explains everything whilst showing you the hot spots and interesting directors to look at. After lifting off from the airport, we first flew over the Kaibab National Forrest. Then we reached the Grand Canyon Rim. The moment you fly over the rim, it seems like the ground below you drops away and you feel like you’re in a rollercoaster ride. It’s a really awesome feeling. You can see the Colorado River down under you at a depth of approximately 6000 feet (2 kilometers). Through the many windows in the helicopter you have a great view of the canyon. The many different colors and shapes of the rocks as well as the erosion and sand layers; you will never see them so near as by a helicopter tour. To take pictures, the best way is to do it straight through the glass, so you don’t get any glimmer on your pictures. It is a breathtaking flight from the north side to the south side of the canyon. It is not allowed to fly deep down in the canyon, but you can oversee everything and it gives you a perfect impression of how huge the canton really is. The views from the road and the view spots along the rim are great, but if you really want to experience the canyon, you have to take a helicopter tour like we did.
Excellent tour - well worth doing. Really informative pilot - just disappointed we didn't get to sit up front (3 passengers in the front with the pilot, and room for 4 in rear - positions determined by pilot based on individuals weights). Passed over what appeared to be about a quarter of the expanse of the Canyon. Airport is a 10-15 minute walk from Best Western Squire Inn. We did the tour before anything else and feel it really enhanced our experience by doing it first and getting the aerial view.
