We booked this tour last minute, and so glad we did. Definitely one of my highlights of Athens. Nice variety of food during the tour. Especially love that you get to visit the fish/meat market and fruit/veg market. Great tour guide. A fair bit of walking but so worth it! Plenty of time to rest at the variety of stops.
We loved this tour. Met our guide Artemis and then proceeded to the first stop. This store that she took us to had all Greek items. We were taken to the back of the store where they were set up for us. We tasted olive oil, vinegar, and some other items. From there off to the doughnut place, where we sampled hot, fresh Greek type doughnuts. They were delicious I might add. From there to the markets fruit, vegetables and fish. Next to the cooking school where we sampled more food. This type was cooked in a large pot and heated from a unique burner. By the time this tour was over we were stuffed. Great way to learn about Greek traditional food, plus some foods that really are not Greek. I highly recommend this tour!
Fabulous! Lot of fun and saw a variety of different culinary experiences. This was our favorite tour. The guide was very knowledgeable, animated and engaging.
Great tour. Artemis was great guide. Food stops were excellent. Would do it again with gusto.
This is an excellent way to spend a few hours in Athens, affording an opportunity to learn about Athenian and Greek history and culture in ways only food and drink reveal. It's also a great opportunity to pick up some non-trinkety gifts for friends and family -- like a little jar authentic Greek tomato paste you'll taste, or a scoop of spices or tea leaves from one of the stores you will visit.
My husband and I loved this tour! We did this on our first day in Athens, and it was a very helpful introduction to the city. The food was amazing! Our guide was Artemis Olympidou, she was interesting, energetic, and fun! Athens is a terrific city, with terrific food, interesting sights, and wonderful people. This tour was really fun!
PS. We suggest that you don't eat breakfast before the tour. Save room for the delicious and plentiful native Greek food!
This was awesome. We had a wonderful guide who knew the city inside and out. We tasted wonderful food and drink. This is out side of the normal sightseeing tours, but it was absolutely wonderful.
My husband and I really enjoyed the small group food tour. We went to 10 locations and tried lots of different things. Our tour guide, Vicky, was excellent. She told us the history behind the food. Overall it was excellent and we would highly recommend it.
This tour was one of our favorite parts of Athens. Go early in your trip and see interesting parts of the city, learn a lot, and eat! We were able to figure out what we liked and get better food cheaper. Very friendly, sweet guide.
Great tour. You get to sample all sorts of delicious foods and learn about the culture, and the guide takes you through the open markets as well which are quite an experience. Definitely worth it. Come hungry and you will leave very full - definitely won't need to eat breakfast or lunch that day outside of this tour.
Great tour guide! Tons of great tastes... it was a wonderful walk through Athens. I founds lots of fun foods to take home to the USA!
From hello to goodbye, tour guide Artemis Olympidou captured our attention and ran away with it!! She was well-informed, entertaining, a great conversationalist and passionate about her job. Not only would I recommend her to anyone asking, I would specifically ask for her if I could do the same tour again!!
Artimis was an awesome tour guide. The food was the great, and I definitely enjoyed the history and stories behind the food and areas we walked through. This trip being my first time in Greece, the tour was a great intro into the Greek culture. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone, especially those who want to explore more than what's on the main streets.
