You’ll be transferred to Antigua Guatemala (Old Guatemala City), designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its natural beauty and well-preserved Spanish colonial buildings. Meet your guide and embark on a walking tour through this former capital of Guatemala, whose charming and colorful style permeates everything from its houses, churches, squares and parks to its folklore and cultural traditions.
Your guide will take your group to see some of the top attractions of this beautiful city, enjoyed by visitors from around the world. Your full-day tour includes lunch, with an optional upgrade to include Santa Teresita Hot Springs (Baños Termales Santa Teresita).

Option 1: Antigua Guatemala Tour with Lunch
Embark with a 3-hour walking tour as you stroll along both level and cobblestone streets with your guide. Admire the Baroque-style façade of La Merced Church, bordered by two bell towers, and view Antigua’s largest fountain, Nuestra Señora de la Merced.
Visit the main plaza and view the whitewashed walls of its imposing main cathedral, constructed between 1543 and 1680 Your guide will point out the section that was rebuilt from the rubble after the Santa Marta earthquake of 1773. Pass under the Santa Catalina Arch, one of Antigua’s most distinguishable landmarks, built in 1694 as a concealed passageway for cloistered nuns to cross from the Santa Catalina convent to the street’s other side.
Antigua boasts an overwhelming variety of attractive, handmade goods that honor the traditions of generations of artisans. You’ll visit a local jade factory, where you can appreciate the beauty of the stone that was sacred to the Mayan civilization.
After a delicious lunch, you’ll have some free time to explore at leisure. Perhaps visit the Museo de Armas de Santiago and the Museo del Libro Antiguo (Antique Book Museum), both housed in the Palacio del Ayuntamiento. Or, browse for brightly colored textiles at the arcade of cafés and shops known as the Portal del Comercio.
At the end of your shore excursion, you’ll be transferred to the cruise terminal in time to board your ship.
Option 2: Antigua Guatemala Tour with Lunch Plus Hot Springs
Your guide will lead you on a 2-hour walking tour, including La Merced Church, the main plaza and the Santa Catalina Arch. (See descriptions in Option 1 above.)
After your tour, continue to Santa Teresita Hot Springs, where you’ll find a world of relaxation in a unique and beautiful setting. The nearby Pacaya Volcano provides thermal heat for the hot springs of Santa Teresita, sustainably built complex with 12 thermal pools, a thermal circuit, 25 steam baths and three hydrotherapy baths. The spa also offers relaxing massages, reflexology, shiatsu, manicures, pedicures and more (additional expense).
After a delicious lunch at the hot springs, you’ll have some free time to explore Antigua at leisure before you’re transferred to the cruise terminal in time to board your ship.
