When booking this trip, I found it hard to decide whether to do this tour or the cheaper one. This one is fabulous and so worth the extra money. On a hot day, the cool towels, given often, are fabulous. They do give you water and tea, but take some extra water, you'll need it. The fresh fruit platter they give you is great, a nice selection of local fruits to keep you going until lunch. The candy factory was really interesting, touristy yes, but also interesting. They give you lots of samples. You can even have a cold beer to cool off while you are there for just two dollars. The seafood lunch was at a magnificent-looking house, and was interesting! A set lunch is included, but drinks are extra. There is no other food to buy. The guide was pretty good; he was very happy and knowledgeable, though I would have liked to have heard more about what it is to be a Vietnamese person, rather than facts and figures about Vietnam. It is a two and a half hour drive out to the river, which is a great opportunity to have a look around outside of Ho Chi Minh City. Driving is crazy, but it is worth the risk, I think! Seat belts don't seem to be used, and therefore removed.

This made for an interesting day trip. The rides to and from the pier were rather long and the car could have been more comfortable. Upon boarding the boat the serving of towels, fruits, and tea was a nice touch. I chose to lie on the lounge mattress on the floor of the boat which was nice to relax on and watch the river float by. The visits to various candy making stations were interesting and of good length. The scenery once you get off the boat was lovely to see many greens and florals! The lunch was presented in a nice colonial style villa although I personally didn't care too much for the food it was very nicely presented and I especially enjoyed the elephant ear fish. The guide was one of the better ones I've had in Vietnam. I'm not sure what the difference is between this and the other Mekong day tour- it seems the other one is private yet cheaper! I picked this one because the boat was supposed to be nicer and it did indeed look better than some of the other more rickety boats we passed. I would recommend this tour as a good day trip from HCMC.

It is a very good experienced because is still natural. This is a comfortable tour which we do not have to rush here and there! Those places we visited were very interesting.
