What You Can Expect
Start your tour with a transfer from your Istanbul hotel to Istanbul Airport. Board your flight to Kayseri Airport, and on arrival, meet your driver who will transfer you to your Cappadocia hotel. After a quick break to freshen up, set off on a morning hike through Rose Valley – a beautiful stretch of land that takes its name from the red-hued rock that abounds throughout it. Wedged between the villages of Göreme and Çavuşin, the valley is studded with rock-carved churches and tunnels, and your guide will point out the best ones on your hike. Finish up in Çavuşin, and after visiting its cave mosque, enjoy some free time for lunch (own expense).
Hop aboard your minibus and continue your day’s tour to Kaymakli Underground City, one of Cappadocia’s best-preserved subterranean sites. Explore its maze of passages, seeing underground stables and cellars while learning about the early Christians who once hid here to escape persecution. Return to your coach and travel to Ortahisar – your final stop of the day. On a stroll, admire its stone houses that surround its crowing rocky glory -- Ortahisar Castle. Stop for photos by this unique fortress and then return to your hotel in time for dinner.
Accommodation: Lykia Lodge, Alfina Cave Hotel or similar superior hotel in Cappadocia
Day 2: Cappadocia (B)
Upgrade to start your day in style with a hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia! It’s an early start from your hotel, but once at the hot air balloon office, a buffet breakfast awaits. Tuck in and then take to the skies on a 1-hour flight! Cappadocia’s volcanic origins have left some truly captivating sights, with fairy chimneys punctuating the rocky landscape that you’ll see below you. Finish with a glass of Champagne and then return to your hotel.
If you choose not to take the balloon ride, then enjoy breakfast in your hotel and spend the early morning at leisure. Both groups meet up in the late morning for an excursion to Imagination Valley, where intriguing animal-like rock formations are abundant. Admire the landscape and stop in Pasabag (Monk’s Valley) in the region of Zelve, to walk through the area’s cone-like rocks where monks and hermits once lived in peaceful seclusion.
Continue by minibus to the pottery town of Avanos, and after a break for lunch (own expense), travel to Pigeon Valley. See its famous bird-nesting caves and then head to Göreme Open-Air Museum. Exemplified by dusty-looking beige buildings and fairy chimneys, this open-air museum comprises a cluster of rocky monuments that attest to Byzantine life in Cappadocia.
Check out of your hotel and then finish your tour with a transfer to Kayseri Airport or another Cappadocia hotel.
Cappadocia with its special landscape is a good substitute of going to the moon.
On the other hand, the historical sights, the underground cities and churches, the arts and crafts you see over there, an excellent guide and it was the perfect experience.
Amazing scenery, guides, watching the sunrise in the hot air balloon was spectular, really enjoyed the experience.
It was one of the best tours we have ever taken. Everything was well organised and we didn't have to worry for a single thing right from when we were picked from our hotel at Istanbul till we were dropped at the Kayseri airport back on the second day.
The tour guide UNLUER KOCAN was an amazing guide. He was so informative , sweet and courteous and we enjoyed his company. He used the time in the most efficient way to show us the most and in the best possible way. He gave detail information regarding anything we want to know about that place and Turkish specialities in general.
The stay was so comfortable , food was delicious and balloon ride was definitely one of the main highlights that should not be missed.
Overall this tour was definitely a 10 on 10 experience and it someone is reading this review to consider this tour I will say GO FOR IT and you won't regret your choice.
My recommendation is to take the balloon tour. It's a bit more expensive but really worth the experience. We got free lunches both day which was not mention.
Would have like to stay at the cave hotel but Lykia Lodge was good as well although far from Goreme if you want to explore it.
The entire tour was an amazing experience! The food, the accommodation and the hot air balloon ride is a must. Our tour guide Ünlü was excellent and his English was also very good.
Our guide is very good and helpful.
Tour was fantastic, great balloon ride, accommodation and food. 4 am start in Istanbul, too early. The only issue is to make sure you have booked your return flight from Cappadocia- this tour would be better if it was included as many people had no idea they had no return flight to Istanbul until they got to Cappadocia-
We were picked up at our hotel and transported to the airport. At the end of our two day tour we were once again transported back to the airport. Our tourguid was excellent and the hotel we stayed in for the night as well. Lunch both afternoons were great The hot airballoon ride was everything I hoped for. I can highly recommend this tour.
This tour exceeded expectations. Hot air ballooning easily a highlight. Both tour guides I had were really good. The logistics of the whole process for me went well. Pick up times and scheduling were well organised between various parties. Hotel and meals were also really good.
For me the only minor downside was not knowing what the daily plan was given that it wasn't following the schedule outlined on website. It would have been nice to know so I could prepare what I needed for the day. Given this it did not impact how I felt about the tour overall.
The tour was amazing! The scenery was just beautiful and our tour guides were so knowledgable and the kindest people! Highly recommend this tour!
