Four Day ANZAC Tour: Istanbul, Gallipoli, Cannakkale, Troy

If you only have a few days in Turkey and want to see the major highlights, then this is the tour for you. This four day tour will take you to Troy, Gallipoli and Istanbul and is sure to be a memorable experience. Amongst the highlights on this tour are:

Topkapi Palace:
Located on the Seraglio point of the old quarter of the city overlooking the Golden Horn and The Bosphorus, the former home of the ottoman sultans is now one of the biggest museums of the world housing a marvelous collection of Japanese and Chinese porcelains as well as a vast collection of antique jewelry including spoon makers diamond, many silver and goldware.

Gallipoli:
The Battlefields of The First World War where you will see Anzac Cove, Lone Pine Australian Memorial, The Trenches and war memorials of both the Turkish and ANZAC troops.

Troy:
Another highlight of the tour where we will see the reproduction of the Trojan horse and the ruins which were unearthed by Schliman, the German archeologist. You will also hear the romantic history of the city of Helen.

Tour departs from centrally located Istanbul hotels. Please include the details of your hotel at the time of booking. You MUST call the supplier at least 24 hours prior to tour commencement to reconfirm all tour and departure details. If the supplier does not pickup from your hotel, they will advise you of the meeting point when you call. The contact details will be listed on your voucher.

Port Pick-up:
For passengers arriving / departing Istanbul by cruise ship, a pick up is available from Istanbul port. If you wish to be picked up at Istanbul port you must advise the cruise line, ship name, docking and departure time in the Special Requirements box, at time of booking. Please allow 30 minutes from cruise arrival time to disembark and meet the tour. Please note, you may be picked up from the cruise port and dropped off at a city hotel or vice versa.

Itinerary:

Day 01: Istanbul

Your first day is free to beginning exploring Istanbul, Turkey's largest city. The city has long been known for it's strategic location at the entrance of black sea and for being the traditional crossroads between Europe and Asia. Depending on your arrival time, you may like to take an optional Bosphorus Cruise. Tonight you have the option of dinner with belly dancing entertainment.

Day 02: Istanbul (B)

Today you have a full day of sightseeing in Istanbul. You will visit Topkapi Palace and St Sophie, see the famous Blue Mosque and walk to the Hippodrome, to see the place of the former Horse Ground where chariot races and gladiator fights took place during the Roman Empire time. Today you will end your tour with a visit to the exciting Grand Bazaar with over 4400 shops!

Day 03: Gallipoli - Dardanelles - Cannakkale (B, D)

This morning you have an early departure for Gallipoli to see Anzac Cove, Lone Pine Cemetery and Conkbair with the famous first world war memorials. Cross the Dardanell, which is one of the two waterways between Europe and Asia (approximately 30 minute ferry ride) before arriving in Canakkale around 6:30pm where we will spend the evening.

Day 04: Troy - Istanbul (B)

The morning starts with a visit to Troy, the beautiful city of Helen and the Trojan Horse. Around 12:00pm (noon), return to the Canakkale city for a leisurely free afternoon to enjoy the daily panoramas of a small Turkish Town. For those interested in documentary films such as Gallipoli starring Mel Gibson or 4 Corners Documentary "Fatal Shore" a visit to Anzac House (no charge) may be your choice. At approximately 6:00pm you will depart for Istanbul, arriving back in Istanbul at approximately 11:00pm.
