We did have some difficulty in contacting the company by phone to confirm the pickup time but we need not have worried as they did come back to us in good time by both phone and fax. The day of the tour was the worst snow in Istanbul since 1992 which saw much of the city grind to an almost halt. That said the guide arrived on time and we completed all of the tour items even if we had a snow blizzard going on. The tour covered the key sites you should see and our guide did bring it alive with a wealth of information about everything. Having a good guide like Omar helped not only understand what you were looking at but helped us get into places much quicker and know where to find the most interesting things to see.
Lunch was pretty good for something that was part of a tour and we were pleased with how that went.
The snow did mean we got a little less time in the Grand Bazar but that was purely because it closed early.
I would recommend this tour as a good way to get to see the best the city has in a relaxed but informative way.
We may yet come back and do it in hotter weather as the snow did not help but equally did not stop it being a good trip.
Our guide was probably the most knowledgeable man in Istanbul. He shared details and insights we would not have gotten elsewhere.
Our private guide met us at our hotel and we were transported up to the Blue Mosque. Kevanc quickly assessed the lines and diverted us to the Grand Bazaar first and then back to the Haghia Sophia and on from there. He was very knowledgeable and we had a great (long) day. Even though this wasn't our first time in Istanbul It certainly gave us an insider's appreciation for their history and culture. I would really recommend this tour if you have only a day or two in Istanbul.
What a great trip. Our tour guide was very interesting, easy to understand and was fantastic about getting us from one place to the next and getting us through the lines quickly.
Our guide was knowledgeable and flexible. We were able to avoid lines by organizing the order of our sightseeing based on the line size and traffic conditions which the guide could see from his smartphone. Friends who took a tour offered by the cruise ship reported being stuck on a bus in traffic a lot. Our guide was very friendly and personable. Good humor. We enjoyed the day.
Great tour...knowledgeable and courteous guide, Zachary. Great driver, especially considering driving and parking conditions!!!
Our guide Apter made an amazing day for us. We saw all the sites and got thorough explanations and a great deal of information about Islam and the history of Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires in Istanbul. We also saw an amazing carpet-making demonstration and we were shown some beautiful pieces. There was no pressure to buy and the man who led the demo was really nice and sincere. Since we were just 2 people, we had a nice lunch in a very traditional Ottoman restaurant. If you can fit a private tour into your budget, you will not be disappointed.
An excellent tour with a very friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. The day takes in the major sites in Istanbul which are generally in easy walking distance from each other. The pick-up from the hotel was easy to arrange and the tour guide was on time. Lovely lunch in the middle of the day. All in all, a very good way to see Istanbul.
This private tour was definitely worth the expense. Everything took place on time and was confirmed in writing prior to the tour. Hakan was very knowledgable and cared a lot about making the tour successful. My friends back home said that the Turkisht Delight that he recommended was unlike any they had tasted before and suggested opening up an import business :) This was my first trip to Istanbul, and I feel like I saw more in one day than I would have seen on my own in three (because we did not get lost, could jump the lines, and becuase I did not have to read all the info at the museums). Also, as a woman travelling alone, getting to know the city better with a guide made me feel more confident going out on my own the following days. I have already recommended this to my friends!
We were very pleased with this tour. Our guide, Omer, was wonderful. He was have knowledgeable about all the sights we were visiting and had great pride in his country. We also really enjoyed getting to know Omer and hearing about his life. We never felt rushed and were very fortunate to enjoy all the beautiful attractions in Istanbul.
The guide was a fountain of information and responded to all our questions thoroughly and with patience. Going on a private tour was excellent as my wife really can't keep the pace with the large "herd" approach of usual ship tours. We were met at the boat and dropped off there so it was convenient. Istanbul was worth the trip. There is so much history and our guide Aiden know it all and then some.
We had a great day with our private tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about all the places we went on the tour and about the history of Istanbul and Turkey. He was very friendly and we enjoyed the tour very much. We really liked visiting the historical sights in Istanbul and the food was very good in the restaurant where we stopped for lunch. In short, it was a very enjoyable day and the guide was great!
A one person tour by a professional tour guide, spoke excellent English. Right on time showed me many things I wouldn't have seen on my own. Bypass many lines, I can't speak too high of the service. I am sold on using this service again, hopefully in all of my future travels. Very happy!!!
