Naples and Pompeii Day Tour is a journey to discover art, history, folklore and archaeology in one of the most symbolic regions of southern Italy. Depart Rome along the "Highway of the Sun", passing through the Roman countryside known as the area of "Castelli Romani" (Castles of Rome). During the journey you will be able to see the Abbey of Monte Cassino, famous for its battle and complete destruction during the Second World War. Arriving in Naples proceed towards the hill of Posillipo. Admire the spectacular views of the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius, which erupted in AD79, devastating the towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum

Descending towards the port of Mergellina, you will arrive in the ancient fishing quarter of Santa Lucia and see the impressive Castel dell'Ovo (Egg Castle) for a photo stop. Continue crossing the historical center of Naples to view Piazza Del Plebiscito, the Royal Palace, the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, the San Carlo Opera House, the Gallery of Umberto I and the imposing Maschio Angioino. Next, you will cross the valley of Mount Vesuvius, passing through the the villages of Ercolano (Herculaneum), Torre del Greco and Torre Annunziata before arriving in Pompeii for the lunch stop

After lunch, take a guided two hour walking tour of the ancient city of Pompeii with a local guide. A thrilling archaeological journey will unfold. Walk through the ancient ruins buried in ashes after Mount Vesuvius erupted and appreciate this UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back 1,700 years. Discover the everyday life of the Imperial Age and imagine the panic felt by the people in those last few minutes before the city was so disastrously buried. After the walking tour of Pompeii, board the coach for your return journey to Rome (approximately 3 hours). Stop at the Coral and Cameo Factory along the way, where you will have the opportunity to admire and purchase items of this ancient craft dating back to the Greek period

Tour departs from centrally located Rome hotels. If you're staying outside the Aurelian Walls or did not confirm hotel pick up - all tours will depart from 5/a Via Farini, located off Via Cavour, Rome. This departure point is a few minutes walking distance from Termini Railway Station and easy to locate.

Hotel Pickup:

Hotel pick up is available from all Rome centrally located hotels. All hotels must be located in the city center (within the Aurelian Walls). Please advise your full hotel name and address at time of booking. If you are staying outside of the central city area, please make your own way to the departure point located at 5/a Via Farini, Rome. It is close to Termini Railway Station and just off via Cavour.

Cruise Port Pickup:
For passengers arriving into Rome on a cruise ship, the tour operator can pick up/drop off guests from/to Civitavecchia Port at an additional cost. To book this option you must book separate cruise port transfers between Civitavecchia and Rome. If you choose to combine transfers with a scheduled tour commencing in Rome, take into consideration the traveling time from the Port of Civitavecchia to Rome. It is approximately 1 hour and you should allow minimum 30 minutes to disembark cruise.
