What You Can Expect
Both the breakfast and dinner trips raft a section of water that flows through the Snake River Canyon. Paddle a classic Snake River stretch that covers eight river miles (13km) from start to finish. The whitewater rapids range from class I to III, offering a trip filled with plenty of action and fun!
When booking, you have a choice of boat size. The smaller 6-person raft makes for a more adventurous ride where you really feel the rapids. Your guide relies on everyone in the raft to paddle, so be ready for a fun challenge! On such a small boat, you can expect to get wet, no matter where you sit. It’s all part of the adventure!
The 16-person raft has eight paddling seats and eight non-paddling positions. ,The bigger boat is designed to cushion the roller-coaster rapids more than the small boat. No matter what trip you choose, you still get a thrilling ride and are likely to get wet. Paddlers provide power as you go through rapids, so expect to paddle hard when your guide instructs you to do so. You'll learn key commands and paddling tactics from your expert guide before you head out.
Take in the gorgeous scenery, which changes from steep granite walls to alpine meadows and forest. Throughout the day, your guide shares facts about the history of the area and local flora and fauna. Look for the geological features that your guide notes and keep an eye out for wildlife, including river otters, osprey and bald eagles. You may be lucky enough to spot resident mountain goats, mule deer, elk and bears.
Meet at the boathouse where a hearty Boatman’s Breakfast awaits you. Fuel up with your choice of a hot breakfast wrap, muffins, oatmeal, fruit, coffee and juice.
After breakfast, your guide provides a paddling lesson and safety briefing. Transportation is provided to the Snake River Canyon, just south of Jackson Hole, where you will get outfitted in your life jacket, helmet and other gear, at the river. Review your gear and paddling commands, then hop in the raft and hit the river!
Rafting Trip with Dinner:
On this trip, you raft the upper whitewater section of the river, then stop for dinner midway at a spectacular riverside site that is only accessible by raft.
Perched on the side of the river, the dining camp overlooks the biggest rapids in the canyon. The roaring river provides the soundtrack as you take in the scenery. Your river cook whips up a delicious Western–style grilled meal that might include wild-game sausage, steak or hamburger served with sides such as fruit salad, potato salad, garlic bread, corn on the cob, and Dutch-oven cobbler. Wash it all down with your choice of hot and cold beverages. After you have satisfied your appetite, get back in your rafts and head into the two biggest rapids of the trip!
Driving along the Snake River it does not look like the rapids are much at all. However, in the rafts these rapids were as much as I wanted to ride. We got wet and were in fear of being thrown into the river! Our guide, Adam, made the trip that much more fun. This adventure was well worth the cost.
Adam was outstanding guide. Had our boat in a frenzy of fun.
Amazing experience for father and son.
Best Trip Ever for Novice/Beginner, highly recommend the 6 person raft for a great experience.
Great activity for the family!
White water rafting was great! The tour guide was knowledgable and entertaining and the trip was well organized. The breakfast before was a bit on the weak side. They kept running out of cups/utensils and coffee. Breakfast burritos were OK but not much else to choose from. It was a bit chilly outside that morning. Would have been nice to have a few places to sit inside.
