What You Can Expect

Juneau Shore Excursion: Helicopter Tour and Dogsledding Experience

Helicopter Tour and Dogsledding Experience

After pickup by van from Juneau port, enjoy lively commentary during the ride to the heliport. Upon arrival, receive a safety briefing and then board your helicopter. (Please note: The total tour time, from liftoff at the heliport to return to the helicopter base, is 1.5 hours.)

Fly over the glaciers of the Juneau Icefield, with your pilot-guide explaining the surrounding geology and natural history. Head over to Herbert Glacier, where your pilot lands the helicopter near a dogsledding camp. As you step foot onto the quiet and massive snowfield, you may sense you’re alone in the world — that is, until you hear Alaskan huskies barking as they make their way over to you.

You can ride the dogsled runners, or remain comfortably in your seat as the dog team glides you along vast fields blanketed with snow. After your ride, return to camp and listen to anecdotes from longtime mushers about the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, also known as the Last Great Race.

Then, it’s time to say farewell to the mushers and huskies. Back aboard your helicopter, delight in aerial views of the icefield as you fly back to Juneau. Upon landing, take a few minutes to snap more pics and warm up before your van transports you back to the port terminal.

Worry-free Shore Excursion:

The tour is absolutely amazing... just to clarify i thought the tour was the glacier plus the dogsled and its not... so future clients make sure that if you want to go and stand on the glacier and drink the water and so on this tour will not do it...

STILL, its absolutely amazing i loved it and would do it again

Although the dogsledding portion of this excursion was cancelled due to weather, this was a very incredible experience! Sean, the pilot, was great and the scenery was breathtaking! Although very pricey, this is worth every penny!!!

It was awesome! I was hesitant to book it because it was so expensive, but it was so worth it. Our pilot, Casey, was friendly and funny and informative. Our Musher, Jess, was good too. The dogs were great and we will never forget the experience.

The best tour I took in Alaska. This is well worth it! The company is prepared and has boots, jackets and waterproof pants you can use at the camp. The dogs are well behaved and are owned by the guides. Nick our guide was wonderful and his beloved Chase was adorable. The ride there was SMOOTH. Our pilot had been flying for 25 years! The views are unbelievable and breathtaking. BOOK THIS...you will not regret it.

We loved it. The helicopter pilot was superb, taking us up and to the glacier as if we were in a 3-D movie. The guide who took us for the dog sledding experience was an intelligent young man, w a great compassion for the dogs. We learned a lot, and we came away with an excellent appreciation for the landscape, the sledding, and the dogs.

We felt like the only people on the top of the world. Heath our pilot was a friendly and informative guide; he also takes good photos and flues a helicopter well! Sadly dogsled ride cancelled due to wether, but no one can fix that! The glacier was stunning. Highly recommended
